The organizing committee of the Dubai Fishing Competition in Kingfish and Cobia, which was held during the 2022-2023 sports season at the Dubai International Marine Club, has announced the overall season champion in the Kingfish category.

Jassim Hassan Muhammad Ali Al Marzouqi was crowned champion after participating in the first and second rounds of the competition and catching fish with a total weight of 48.50 kg. Ali Ismail Hussain Al Hosani was a close competitor, with a weight of 47.40 kg, less than 1 kg behind Al Marzouqi.  

In the first round, Al Marzouqi caught a fish weighing 19.6 KG, placing him in eighth position in the round's overall standings. However, he used his knowledge and skills of sea conditions to catch a fish weighing 28.5 KG in the second round, taking the first position and securing the top spot in the kingfish category's overall ranking.

The Overall Season Champion in the Kingfish category received a prize of 25,000 Dirhams, which was sponsored by Delma Marine Company for Industrial Equipment and Marine Services, during the closing ceremony held last Monday. The ceremony was attended by Ayoub Al-Khaja, the General Manager of Delma Marine, and Mohammed Al Marri,  the Director of the Sports Affairs at DIMC.

Jassim Hassan Muhammad Ali Al Marzouqi commended the Dubai International Marine Club for its role in developing the competition and generating increased interest in fishing. He also remarked that the competition helped to preserve a great cultural heritage, passed down from parents and grandparents to generations, and encouraged participation from various segments of society.
