Atlas 39 Crowned Champion in the Second Traditional Rowing Race

The boat Atlas 39, owned by Hamdan Saeed Jaber and captained by Hassan Ibrahim Al Hosani, was crowned the champion of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race – Heat 2 for the Local Class Run Category. Meanwhile, the boat Shabab Suhar from the Oman Marine Sports Committee, led by Ibrahim Saleh bin Rashid Al Ghaiti, secured the first place in the second half for the Open Class Category.

The race was successfully organized by the Dubai International Marine Club on the waters of Dubai Water Canal in the Al Jaddaf area, with participation from more than 400 sailors on board 36 boats. They competed in two categories: local and open class, covering a race distance of more than 2.3 kilometers.

In the Local Class Run category, participated in by 25 boats, the Atlas 39 secured the first position against its top competitor, Boat No. 35 Al Kous, owned by Ali Ahmed Khamis Al Noun, who came in second place. The third position went to Boat No. 36 Al Asifa, owned by Hamdan Saeed Jaber and skippered by Bader Abdul Hakim Mohammed Thani.

In the open class category, the competitions resulted in the emergence of a new champion, the crew of the Omani boat Shabab Suhar 22, which beat the first-round champion, the Bahraini boat KHK 54, owned by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and captained by Ahmed Bin Nasser Al Busmait. They came in second place, while the boat Ahed Oman 44, affiliated with the Oman Marine Sports Committee and led by Saoud Humaid Al Bahri, took third place.

Right after the race concluded, the awarding ceremony for the top three places in each category was held in the presence of Mohammed Harib, Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai International Marine Club, accompanied by Colonel Ali Abdullah Al Naqbi from the Dubai Police, and Mohammed Al Marri, the Race Director. They handed over the cups to the winners of the local and open class run amid the joy and happiness of the boat owners and sailors.

Mohammed Harib, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Dubai International Marine Club, was eager to praise the role of supporting partners from government departments and national institutions, who consistently contribute to the success of the club’s activities. He also commended the participating racers, highlighting their cooperation with the organizing committee, which, in turn, maintained tight control over the great race.

He extended his congratulations to the boat owners and sailors who emerged victorious in the race, emphasizing the success of the rounds in the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race. He noted that the competition's level confirms that we are approaching the excitement of the final race in the 27th edition of the Al Maktoum Cup event, the most prestigious tournament of the rowing season, scheduled for the 23rd of this month.
