04 February 2024

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation (UAESARF), followed the competition on the first day of the Dubai Kitesurf Competition. The event concludes today at Dubai Islands beach.

The competitions, organized by the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) as part of Dubai Watersports Day 2024 in conjunction with the country's campaign for the World Coolest Winter, recorded a successful start amidst a large turnout from fans and enthusiasts of the sport of kitesurfing.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan praised the technical and organizational success accompanying the launch of this great event, marking the inaugural event in the calendar of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation. He emphasized that the substantial turnout reflects the continuous increase in the base of kitesurfing practitioners, indicating the rapid spread of this sport on the shores of our country.

Furthermore, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan commended the role played by the Dubai International Marine Club in developing various marine sports, increasing the number of practitioners, and motivating them through various tournaments. He highlighted the club's careful consideration of the circumstances and nature of each event, particularly in kitesurfing, where specific wind conditions are essential.

The first day of Dubai Kitesurf Open witnessed the competition for the two categories, such as the TwinTip (Men, Women, Junior, GCC), and the Freestyle (Men, Women, Junior, GCC).

The stars of our national team stole the spotlight in the Twin Tip category competitions for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), where our hero Rashid Ahmed Al Falasi topped the rankings, followed by Mohamed Al Mansoori, while our rising hero Abdullah Al Muhairbi excelled in the junior category alone, topping the list.
