Dubai Fishing Competition Starts Tomorrow

Dubai Fishing Competition 2024 (Kingfish & Cobia) will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, 28th of February 2024 , which is organized by the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) as part of the 2023-2024 season and in conjunction with the 30th edition of the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS).

The Dubai International Marine Club is a supporting partner in the event, participating through a special pavilion in the outdoor area at platform No. OD-02. At this pavilion, the club will present glimpses of its role through sports trophies and awards, as well as showcase the iconic Victory Team-built boats. Additionally, the club organizes two events.

The organizing committee has completed its technical preparations for the launching of the Dubai Fishing Competition, which starts tomorrow and runs daily until Sunday, coinciding with the closing of the Dubai International Boat Show 2024.

The Dubai Fishing Competition has been organized by the club for the fifth consecutive season, aligning with the directives of the club’s strategic plan and receiving support from the club’s Board of Directors to provide competition opportunities for various segments of society. This initiative aims to increase interest in marine sports by attracting diverse groups, thereby enhancing the club’s societal role.

Mohammed Saif Al Marri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at DIMC, stated that preparations are proceeding in full swing. Registration to participate in the event continues through the club’s website, while the collection of caught fish will take place in front of the DIMC office located at Dubai Harbour.

He added that the competition begins tomorrow right after the password has been given and will continue for four consecutive days until Sunday. The awarding ceremony will be held in the exhibition square at the Dubai International Boat Show.

The Director of the Sports Affairs Department mentioned that the club has allocated a total amount of 165,000 dirhams as prize money, with 135,000 dirhams allocated to the winners from first to tenth place in the Kingfish category, while an amount of 30,000 dirhams has been allocated to the holders of the first three places in the Cobia category.


Gifts and Prizes

Mohammed Saif Al Marri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at DIMC, confirmed that the organizing committee, in cooperation with several national institutions including Al Yazi Marine, Sayaf Marine, and the Italian company Mias Fish, which specializes in fishing rods, will allocate a number of in-kind prizes to be presented to the first-place finishers in the competitions.
