104 Boats Confirms Participation at the 31st Al Gaffal Race

Dubai International Marine Club continues to receive applications to participate in the 31st edition of the Al Gaffal Long Distance Race which is being held under the patronage and support of which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, as a closing race for the 2021-2022 season.

Everyone awaits the decision of the Higher Organizing Committee headed by Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, DIMC Chairman and Vice President of the UAEMSF regarding the announcement of the new date for the race after its postponement due to bad weather forecast this week.

The registration process to participate in the 31st edition of the Al Gaffal Race has witnessed a huge turnout since it opened last week through the online portal launched by the club specifically for this event. The registration is expected to close before the club committee headed to the Sir Bu Na'air Island in preparation for the race wherein the Safety Inspection will be done prior to the race start.

Rashid Thani Al Aail, Board Member of DIMC, Head of Sports Committee, and member of the Higher Organizing Committee of the 31st Al Gaffal Race would like to extend his appreciation and thanks to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council for his continuous support and great interest in marine sports particularly in Al Gaffal Race.

He said that the interest of His Highness, the sponsor of the event in the continuation of the great race, inspire everyone to register and complete the necessary procedure while waiting for the committee’s decision on the new date.

He also praised the Higher Organizing Committee and the club’s effort in making the race a successful one by coordinating with various government departments and national institutions. He pointed out as well the role of the Advisory Committee for Sailing Race which is a big help and support to the club, especially their recommendations and suggestion.

He wishes everyone the best of luck for the 31st Al Gaffal Race from Sir Bu Na'air Island to Dubai Coast. Mentioning that the Higher Organizing Committee prioritize the security and safety of everyone participating in the race, and that's why they decided to postponed it.-

At the end of his speech, Al Muhairi wished success to all participants in the 31st edition of the Al Qaffal event and moved from the shores of the Emirates to Sir Bu Nair Island and then arrived safely on the shores of Dubai, stressing that the Supreme Organizing Committee places a priority on achieving the principle of security and safety, so it decided to amend the date in line with that.
