22ft Dhow Sailing at Jumeirah Beach on Friday

18 December 2024

Dubai International Marine Club has announced the organization of the Dubai 22-foot Local Sailing Race (the second round of the Dubai Championship 2024-2025), scheduled for Friday at Jumeirah Beach.

This highly anticipated race marks the conclusion of the club's 2024 activities, which featured numerous races and championships spanning international, regional, and traditional competitions.

Mohammed Al Marri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at Dubai International Marine Club, confirmed the club’s readiness to host the event. He noted that the marine forecast predicts stable conditions along Dubai’s beaches, enhancing the prospects of fair and competitive racing among captains, as well as young and junior sailors.

He also highlighted that DIMC is working closely with its success partners, including government departments and national institutions, to ensure the smooth execution of the race. This event represents the final race for this category in the current season, which consists of two rounds.

Notably, the Dubai International Marine Club organized the first round of the championship last September, inaugurating the 2024-2025 sports season. The event featured 50 boats competing for titles in the youth and junior categories.

The first round witnessed the victory of the boat Hasheem 81, owned by Al Fattan Shipbuilding Company and captained by Mohammed Marwan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, in the youth category. Meanwhile, the junior category title was claimed by the boat Sarab 67, owned by Mohammed Sultan Al Marzouqi and captained by Sultan Mohammed Sultan Al Marzouqi.
