22ft Dhow Sailing Race as Season Opener on Friday

04 October, Dubai:  Jumeirah Beach will witness on Friday the launch of the new season 2021 – 2022  with the first round of the 22ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race as the season opener.

In conjunction with the global event launched recently, the Dubai EXPO 2020 that is hosted by the UAE for 6 months, the race will carry the spirit of festivity from the people of the sea and welcome the world in a land that upheld the values of tolerance, peace, and humanity.

The organizing committee announced the opening of the registration for those who would like to participate via the link sent in the SMS to the boat owners and skippers. The race will be divided into two categories: the junior ages from 8-16 and youth ages from 8-21 wherein the race result will be calculated separately per category.


1999

The Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) organized the first race for the 22ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race category way back in 1st of October 1999, as the translation of the insightful vision of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum who establish the race to serve an academy to train the young and junior sailor that will qualify them in the bigger race.
