43ft Dhow Sailing Race again on Saturday

07 November 2023

Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) will organize the second round of the 43ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race on Saturday as part of the current sports season.

The dhow boats will return to raise their white sails once again and paint a beautiful picture of our forefathers' past on Dubai's shores this Saturday, following the remarkable success of the first round held more than two weeks ago.

The organizing committee at DIMC has commenced preparations for the anticipated race in coordination with key partners from government departments and national institutions. They have also notified the participants about the opening of registration through the club's website at www.dimc.ae

Furthermore, the committee is closely monitoring all reports received from the National Center of Meteorology, which provide information on the weather forecast, sea conditions, and expected wind speeds on the day of the race. This is to ensure that the race is conducted under the best possible conditions, thereby ensuring its success.

The first round of the 43ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race, organized by the club on October 21st, witnessed significant participation. According to the race results, boat number 63 'Dahis,' led by Issa Sultan Al Marzouqi, secured the first place. Following closely was boat number 96 'Al Shaqi,' skippered by Khalaf Butti Musabeh Al Ghasheesh, in the second place, while the third place was claimed by boat number 170 'Sahm,' captained by Ahmed Youssef Salem Al Hammadi.

It is worth noting that the Dubai International Marine Club began its activities for the sports season 2023-2024 by organizing the first round of the 22ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race last September, as well as the first round of the 43ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race and the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race last October.
