Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) has announced the opening of registration for the first round of the Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race (43ft), which will be held on Saturday, 28th September, off the coast of Dubai. The race will cover a distance of 14 nautical miles.
The organizing committee notified sailors and boat owners via SMS and social media about the registration procedure, which can be completed through the club's website (www.dimc.ae). Registration will remain open daily until Friday noon, 27th September, which is the deadline for registration prior to releasing the Entry List.
Following the season opener held last Saturday, the club’s organizing committee quickly coordinated with its success partners from government departments and national institutions to ensure the smooth execution of this upcoming race.
Mohammed Harib, Board Member and CEO of DIMC, welcomed all participants in the first round of the 43ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race, emphasizing that this category has been the oldest and most prestigious in traditional sailing since its inception in 1998. Since then, the club has organized around 102 races, with the upcoming race being the 103rd.
Harib acknowledged the efforts of the club's Board of Directors, chaired by Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, as well as the organizing committee and partners, for their contribution to the success of past events and their continued support in the current season, which kicked off with a wonderful start last Saturday.
He also praised the participation of the 50 boats in the recent 22ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race, including the 19 boats in the Junior category. This strong participation serves as a testament to the Emirati community's deep connection to the sea heritage passed down by their ancestors
