(Al Asifa 36) Won the First Round of Traditional Rowing

The crew of boat no. 36 Al Asifa owned by Hamdan Saeed Jaber and led by captain Bader Abdul Hakim won the title in the first round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race in the Local Class Run Category which was organized by Dubai International Marine Club last Sunday as part of the new season 2022-2023. 

While in the second race (Open Class Run category) the boat no. 54 KHK from the Kingdom of Bahrain which is owned by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and led by the captain Ahmed Nasser Al Busmait took the first place after he struggle to take over with boat no. 89 F3 is which owned by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai & Chairman of the Executive Council, and led by Badr Abdul Hakim.

The race was held in the Dubai Water Canal in the area of Al Jaddaf opposite of the Wildlife Sanctuary, showcasing a scenic Dubai view along with the participation of 400 sailors onboard in 46 boats who competed in two sets of race such as the local and open class run with a distance of 2.3 KM towards the finish line in front of Dubai Creek Harbour opposite of Mohammed bin Rashid Library. 

The race started off with the local class run consisting of 34 boats that strongly sails towards the finish line wherein the boat no. 36 Al Asifa took over the lead against boat no. 39 Atlas owned by Hamdan Saeed Jaber and led by Hassan Ibrahim Al Hosani while the third place goes to the boat no. 7 Dalma Marine owned by Ibrahim Al Marzouki and led by the captain Abdullah Sultan Al Marzouqi.

In the Open Class Run which includes 14 boats topped by the Bahraini crew no. 54 KHK followed by F3 boat no. 89 while the third place goes to the boat no. 46 AL Mataf 2 from Al Mataf Society for Heritage and Maritime Arts and led by Ali Khalifa Al Maamari in third place. 

The race ended with the awarding ceremony for the top three winners of each category with the presence of the DIMC Board Member Jamal Zaal,  Mohammed Harib the DIMC CEO, Mohammed Al Marri the Race Director, and Lt. Col Ali Abdulla Naqbi the Head of Maritime Rescue Department in Dubai Police.
