Al Ghailani Champion of the Dubai Kayak Boat Fishing Tournament

Khalil Khalfan Al Ghailani, Participant number 12, was crowned the champion of the Dubai Kayak Boat Fishing Tournament 2024, which was organized by the Dubai International Marine Club last Saturday within the sports season 2023-2024 in cooperation with Nakheel and Adventure HQ. 

The event brought together more than 60 participants from the country and residents of various nationalities, as they sailed in the picturesque waters of the Dubai Islands, a new tourist destination. They competed from the early morning start until the afternoon for the two categories: the first one based on the total weight of the fish of specified types (Cobia, Barracuda, Queen Fish, and Golden Trevally) and the heaviest weight for Kingfish.

Emirati Khalil Khalfan Al Ghailani showcased his fishing skills by catching a fish weighing 19.45 KG, far ahead of the second-place finisher, contestant no. 27, the Egyptian Nadir Wajih Ahmed, who caught a total of 10.1 KG of fish. The third place went to Fe Balon of Philippines, with a total weight of 9.1 KG of fish.

On the other hand, in the Kingfish category, Participant No. 38 from the Philippines, Paul Rommel Dampil, won first place after successfully catching a fish weighing 18.4 KG. His companion, Participant No. 11, Lito Dalangin, took second place with a weight of 7.8 KG, while Participant No. 34 from the Palestinian Authority, Mohammad Al-Khatib, won third place with a weight of 6.8 KG.

Mohammed Al Marri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the Dubai International Marine Club, stated that the Dubai Kayak Boats Fishing Tournament received massive participation among fishing enthusiasts and various segments of society, with more than 160 registered competitors prior to the race day. 

The committee received and approved 31 entries of fish submissions in specified types, with a total weight of 125 KG, including the largest Kingfish caught by the Champion, Paul Rommel Dampil from the Philippines, weighing 18.4 KG. 

Al Marri awarded the top three winners of each category and presented an honorary shield to the representative of Nakheel Company, Saud Al Najaz, as well as to the event sponsors who provided in-kind gifts to all the winners.
