The Dubai Modern Rowing Race (second round of UAE Rowing Championship) took place last Saturday at Dubai Islands with the participation of more than 60 male & female competitors representing 5 clubs & teams in the UAE, who strongly raced off for the title in 13 categories from morning until the afternoon.
Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) successfully organized this event for the first time as part of the current season 2022-2023 participated by the UAE rowing enthusiasts from national athletes to Olympic participants.
The Al Hamriyah Club succeeded in winning the overall (Excellence Cup) with a total of 89 points while the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club team came in second place with 59 points, followed by the Ras Al Khaimah Marine Sports Club Team in third position and consecutively in fourth & fifth position are the Abu Dhabi Rowing Team & New York University Abu Dhabi Team.
Al Hamriyah team dominated in various categories of the race such as in the quadruple competition participated by Ahmed Al Hammadi, Khamis Ghanem, Hamad Al Matroushi & Saeed Jamal for men's category and in the women's category with Hamda Mohammed, Sarra Lajnef, Moada and Shudra both winning the first place as well as for the mix quadruple are Hamid, Ahmed, Sarra & Shudra.
While for the Junior, the duo Khamis Abdulla bin Khasif & Mohammad Al Kaabi from Al Hamriyah top the competition, for the men’s the duo Ibrahim Amaraghi & Malosh from Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, in the women's junior the duo Zeinat Hussein and Marissa Crowther and for the under 23 years old the duo from Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club Sultan Al Ali and Aksel Rudi.
In the individual competition the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club succeeded in winning the men and under 18 years old thru Malosh and Aksel Rudi.
The event was attended by the Board of Directors from the UAE Sailing & Rowing Federation (UAESARF) led by Mohammed Harib - CEO of DIMC, with Mohammed Abdullah Al Obaidli - Secretary General , & Saif Al Muhairi who awarded the medals to all the winners in 13 categories and the Excellence Cup to Al Hamriyah Club for winning the overall.
