17 November 2024

The Board of Directors of the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) praised the fruitful outcomes of the Dubai Sports Retreat, organized by the Dubai Sports Council under the slogan "Dubai, The Ultimate Sports Destination." The retreat brought together 100 decision-makers, specialists, experts, sports stars, and heads and members of sports club boards of directors.

The Board emphasized that the ideas, suggestions, and recommendations shared during the retreat contribute significantly to achieving sports development and sustainability. This aligns with the encouragement of the wise leadership and the government's support for the sports sector, which motivates institutions and their employees, inspiring society to embrace sports as a way of life and a source of health, happiness, and improved quality of life.

This was highlighted during the Board's monthly meeting, chaired by Ahmad Saeed Bin Meshar and attended by members Saif Juma Al Suwaidi (Vice Chairman), Khalid Ali Al Balooshi, Khalid Bin Dasmal, and Mohammed Abdullah Harib , CEO of DIMC.

The Board reviewed reports from various organizational units regarding progress made since the launch of the 2024-2025 marine sports season. They praised the continuous success of races, attributing achievements to the collective efforts of committees, partners, captains, owners, sailors, and racers.

The Board also commended the remarkable success of the first edition of the Special Olympics MENA Sailing Competition – Dubai 2024. Organized by the Dubai International Marine Club for the first time in the Middle East, the event featured six teams representing the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Syria, and Morocco. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, the UAE Special Olympics, and the Special Olympics MENA, was supervised by the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation.

During the meeting, the Board approved the organizational plan to host the final round of the 2024 XCAT World Powerboat Championship - Dubai Grand Prix. Serving as the season finale, the event will take place from December 13-15 on the picturesque beaches of Jumeirah. The racecourse will be set opposite Kite Beach and Nesnas Beach, with the race village strategically located behind Sunset Mall near the athletes' walkway and bicycle path.

The Board also discussed reports from the Victory Team Department on the team's participation and results in the 2024 Formula 1 and XCAT World Championships. As the team competes for top positions in the decisive stages of the championships, the Board directed continued efforts to motivate the team and seize potential opportunities.

Board Member Mohammed Abdullah Hareb, CEO of DIMC, was assigned to lead the Victory Team delegation for the penultimate round of the XCAT World Powerboat Championship in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, from November 21-23. The event will feature 10 boats, including Victory 7, piloted by Salem Al-Adidi and Eisa Al Ali.

The meeting concluded with discussions on technical, administrative, and financial reports for the fiscal year 2024, along with plans from the Human Resources Department aimed at motivating and supporting employees and workers at the club.
