DIMC showcases its activities at the University of Dubai

The Dubai International Marine Club continued its visits to schools and educational institutions in Dubai, aiming to introduce marine sports and showcasing the events it hosts through a specialized demonstration of Modern Sailing.

As part of its pioneering initiative, the Dubai International Marine Club conducted a two-day visit to the University of Dubai, one of the educational institutions in the United Arab Emirates, established in 1997 at its headquarters in Academic City. The purpose was to introduce its members to marine sports.

His Excellency Dr. Eesa Mohammed Al Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai, along with Mohammed Harib, Board Member and CEO at Dubai International Marine Club, Haitham-Almaaini, Head of Graduate Recruitment at the University of Dubai, and a number of college students, attended the presentation by Yousuf Khalid Albastaki, the Coach Leader at Victory Team Academy in DIMC, held inside the university headquarters.

The President of the University of Dubai and the students listened to a detailed explanation of watersports as part of the efforts of the Dubai International Marine Club since its founding year in 1988, to promote the activity in the country. This includes highlighting the legacy of the United Arab Emirates represented by the traditional races hosted and organized by the club. Additionally, the delegation introduced the sport of modern sailing boats of various types during the two-day visit.

The students expressed great enthusiasm for sailing experience and adventures in the future after receiving a comprehensive explanation of how to sail and steer the boat using the sail and rudder. They also expressed their readiness to participate in all proposed programs in the coming period, praising the club delegation’s visit and gaining insight into this sport.

During the visit to the University of Dubai, the Dubai International Marine Club honored the university family headed by Dr. Eesa Mohammed Al Al Bastaki who received the club’s shield, and in turn, he presented a shield to Mohammed Harib in appreciation of this initiative that lasted for two days.

Dr. Eesa Mohammed Al Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai, expressed the university’s happiness with the visit and the initiative in introducing the concept of marine sports and attracting new practitioners. He emphasized that sports are a solid foundation for building a human being, highlighting how marine sports, with their deep connection to the history of our country, stimulate society.

In turn, Mohammed Harib, Board Member and CEO at Dubai International Marine Club, confirmed that the club’s initiatives align with the enthusiasm of the Board of Directors, led by Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, to promote awareness of watersports among various segments of society. The aim is to attract the public and new practitioners to this sport, leveraging the country's stunning beaches and islands that provide an ideal setting for such activities.
