In a significant milestone that reflects its commitment to global sustainability standards, Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) has been awarded the ISO 20121:2024 Certification for sustainable event management. This achievement reaffirms the club’s leadership in organizing events that adhere to the highest environmental responsibility and sustainability benchmarks.
The announcement coincides with DIMC’s celebration of its 37th anniversary, commemorating its founding in May 1988. Since its official recognition as a government entity in 1994, the club has served as a dynamic hub for the development of marine sports locally, regionally, and internationally.
Mohammed Abdullah Harib, Board Member and CEO of DIMC, received the prestigious certification from Universal, a company specializing in ISO consultancy and services. The event was attended by Dr. Kamal Eldin Saleh, CEO of Suretrack Management Consultancy , senior auditor Ali Al Rubaie, and several DIMC staff members.
Expressing his pride in the accomplishment, Harib emphasized that the achievement aligns with the board's ongoing efforts to elevate the club's operations and global standing. He noted that this administrative success marks a new chapter in the club's pursuit of excellence, thanks to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors following its reformation at the beginning of 2024.
He added that the certification is part of the club’s strategic plan for 2025–2027, aimed at reinforcing Dubai’s position as a premier destination for marine sports. The strategy also focuses on preserving cultural heritage, promoting community events, supporting local talent, and elevating national teams and athletes to international podiums.
He further explained that the certification is a testament to DIMC’s consistent efforts in implementing best sustainable practices across its diverse marine races and events. These efforts are in line with Dubai’s broader vision to foster sustainable development, promote environmental initiatives, and uphold the highest environmental standards to ensure a greener future for coming generations.
The recognition reinforces DIMC’s status as a pioneering institution in marine sports and a model for sustainable event management in the region.
