Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race (60ft) on Saturday

Dubai International Marine Club will organize the Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race (60ft) on Saturday as part of the current sports season 2022-2023. 

This race serves as the opening rounds for this category wherein the boat owners and sailors are looking forward to a successful start this season. 

Remarkably the club successfully organized 3 heritage event this season such as the Dhow Sailing Race 22ft , 43ft and Traditional Rowing Race 30ft. 

DIMC has planned 4 rounds for the Dhow Sailing Race 60ft category this season wherein the first one will be held on Saturday , the second round is on 4th of December , the third on the 15th of January and the final round will be the most prominent event in the season the 32nd Al Gaffal Long Distance Race from Sir Bu Na'air Island to Dubai Coast which is scheduled on the month of May the next year.

Boat no. 36 Mansour was hailed as the first winner of the 60ft Category during the third Al Gaffal Race in 1993.

In the previous season 2021-2022 the boat no. 199 Hasheem took the season title led by Hassan Abdullah Muhammad Al Marzouqi who by then won as well the 31st edition of the Al Gaffal Long Distance Race.

  • First Race: Saturday 15 October 2022
  • Second Race: Sunday 04 December 2022
  • Third Race: Sunday 15 January 2023
  • Fourth Race: 20 or 27 May 2023 (Al Gaffal Race)
