Dubai Traditional Rowing Race First Round Today

The competition is back again for the first round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race – 30ft organized by the Dubai International Marine Club as part of the marine sports season 2020-2021 at 3:00 PM today , Friday 27th of November 2020 in Al Jaddaf region near the Dubai Water Canal.

The club completed all the necessary preparations for the said event today incoordination and cooperation with various government department and national institution to be held in its usual location in Al Jaddaf wherein the race for Traditional Rowing will be on for its first round after the sports has stopped due to the pandemic COVID -19 and it comes in conjunction with the Dubai Fitness Challenge (30 x 30)

The competition this season will be a lot more different from the usual one as they adopt amendments in the rowing boat approved by the organizing committee wherein the number of boat crew has been down to 9 members only which 7 from them are citizen of the state and the other 2 will be resident that will provide ID and the weight of the boat is decided to be open and to be made out of the wood.

The procedure in participating will start in the morning at around 9am in accordance with precautionary measure that must be followed in all the sporting event in Dubai. The Technical Committee will start the Technical Inspection of every boat and will be distributing wrist band to the participants and prior to the race the briefing to give reminders to all the participants and to conduct the draw of who will be in the first half or the second half.

The start of the first half of the first round of race was decided to be at exactly at 3:00 in the afternoon in the starting line in the depth of the Dubai Water Canal towards the finish line near the Festival City at the entrance of the Dubai Creek with a race distance of up to 3 KM then the second half will begin immediately after the end of first half.

It is expected that the event will witness the participation of more than 40 boats led by the holder of the Al Maktoum Cup 2019 and the leader of the ranking last season, the Oman 44 representing the Sultanate of Oman in addition to that is the Kingdom of Bahrain with boat no. 53 Victorious and the Khalidiya 54 that adds up in the beauty of the heritage race.
