Ghazi 96 and Belarab 44 Dominates the Dubai Traditional Rowing Championship

Ghazi 96 and Belarab 44 emerged as champions in the second round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race – 30ft (Local and Open Class Run), organized by the Dubai International Marine Club as part of the current sports season calendar.

The race, held last Saturday at the Dubai Water Canal on a 2.3 km course, featured the participation of over 400 sailors from the UAE, GCC countries, and residents. Competitors battled for the titles in the local and open class rounds aboard 41 boats.

Ghazi 96, owned by Sheikh Saeed bin Sorour Al Sharqi and led by Captain Ahmed Saeed Al Rumaithi, claimed victory in the local class run, outperforming 23 other boats to secure its second consecutive win. In second place was boat No. 4, Men Jumeirah, owned by Butti Mosbeh Al Ghasheesh Al Marri and captained by Tariq Al Mansouri, followed by boat No. 5, Zilzal 1, led by Captain Fahad Al Marie, in third.

In the open class round, which featured 18 boats, the crew of Belarab 44, representing the Oman Marine Sports Committee and captained by Humaid Salim Al Bahri, achieved a hard-fought victory. They narrowly edged out boat No. 34, Murbek, owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed and captained by Jaber Mohammed Jaber, who finished second. Boat No. 89, F3, owned by Hamdan Saeed Jaber and captained by Bader Abdul Hakim Mohammed Thani, secured third place.

The boats Ghazi 96 and Belarab 44 secured the top spots in the overall rankings of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Championship 2024-2025, earning a perfect score of 60 points in the local and open class runs at the end of the first and second rounds. Both boats now lead the lineup of those qualified to compete in the prestigious 28th edition of the Al Maktoum Cup Traditional Rowing Race.

The race winners were honored by Mohammed Al Marri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the Dubai International Marine Club, accompanied by Colonel Ali Abdullah Al Naqbi from the Ports Police Station and Dr. Maryam Anas Al Matrooshi, Head of the Sports Council at Dubai Police. The ceremony celebrated the champions of both the local and open rounds, amidst an atmosphere of joy and pride among participating owners, captains, and sailors.
