Mansour bin Mohammed: Witness the evolution of the Al Gaffal Race

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Chairman of Dubai International Marine Club send his deep thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance on the direct support and constant attention to race the Al Gaffal Long Distance Race, which he founded the idea since 1991 and his efforts for the last 29 years wherein He himself witness the evolution of the great race.

All eyes awaits the 29th Al Gaffal Race which will be tomorrow with a great number of participants up to 131 boats which is said to be the largest number since the event started in 1991. The participating boat will sail from Sir Bu Na'air Island towards Dubai Shores with a distance of around 50 nautical miles.


HH Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that the event see a large participation and demand by  boat owners and the sailors who represent various segments of society which demonstrate their passion for the UAE heritage coming from their parents and grand parents,  renewing the Covenant in each year on the commitment and to continue to keep the spirit of cultural heritage "the message to future generations" to learn about the past lives associated with the sea.

His Highness the President of the Dubai International Marine Club and explained that the result of the continued support by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum emerged in the development of the owner of the marine sports heritage and the multiplicity of categories which prompted fans of these sports to the development of the boat and maintain their shape and thus increasing participation from year to year. Wherein this year, for the first time we will see 131 boats participants which orginally begin in 1991 with only 53 boats. 

His Highness the President of the Dubai International Marine Club wishes to all the participants in the 29th Al Gaffal a success  and completion of the race, indicating that the goal is not to win but to participate and complete the race for the success of this event.  The race was popular for its starting point in the Sir Bu Na'air Island and each participants represent the nation pride and the organizing committee pride in organizing such a great race. 

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Chairman of Dubai International Marine Club , praises the efforts of the organizers from the Supreme Committee, as well as the great support that the race gets from the various government departments and national bodies in the UAE and the Emirate of Dubai, which contributed to the great organizational success and wide fame acquired of the event which is unique in the presence and participation of up to 3,000 people which embody the epic history of the beautiful Arabian Gulf.

The convoy of the organizing committee for the race the 29th Al Gaffal had arrived safely in the afternoon , Yesterday in order to start finishing the completion of the technical inspection and safety check on the participants and the distribution of the GPS Tracking Device which will be used yo track the race on Friday at 6:00 AM in the morning

The Higher Organizing Committee has provided outstanding service to those who follow and marine sports enthusiasts who can follow the race for the moment by moment through television channels and also thru GPS via the link provided in the club social media account 

The organizing committee was keen to keep up with the new technology in order to provide a good  broadcast for its follower , wherein they contracted with the French company that specialized in tracking using the sattelite which is known to be the GPS Tracking Device

The most expensive race and most beautiful heritage racing in the region and also in the world with a numbers of testimony whoh] have witnessed it especially the international media as described by the Daily Mail British newspaper said one day ( the race the most beautiful in the world) and CNN (Dubai celebrates its heritage in the closing race).
