New Watersports Events to be held Dubai Islands this weekend

Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) is preparing to organize three watersports events for professionals and beginners this weekend at Dubai Islands in cooperation with Nakheel and as part of the sports season 2022-2023.

Last week, the club opened the new year 2023 with a Dubai Watersports Day held in Dubai Islands for the first time with huge participation among the marine sports enthusiast in various activities such as Aquabike, Modern Sailing, Kayak Fishing, Stand- Up Paddling, and Kayaking. In addition to that, is the Zayed Heritage Exhibition and some beach games for the kids.

The fans of Aquabike await to be back for the third round of the UAE Int’l Aquabike Championship, which will be bringing together elites racers representing 10 countries worldwide on Saturday (21st January )

As per the timetable, this Friday 20th of January the racers will be confirming their registration on-site and will proceed to do the technical inspection prior to the Racer’s Briefing in the afternoon wherein the committee will give chance for the participants to clarify queries pertaining to the race course and rules in preparation for the competition on the next day.

It is expected to be a jam-packed weekend as hundreds of participants for Dubai Kitesurf Open will gather on Saturday & Sunday for the first time this season, competing for the first round organized by the club in cooperation with Emirates Kiteboarding Association (EKA) for sixth season in a row.  The participants will compete in three categories such as: Hydrofoil, Twin tip and Freestyle.

Once again the Kayak Fishing enthusiast will try their chance to win the second round of the tournament for the King fish category and the overall of all other fishes such as Cobia, Barracuda, Queen Fish and Golden Trevally.  

Mohammed Al Marri , the Director of Sports Affairs at DIMC would like to extend his thanks and appreciation towards Nakheel for its continuous support and cooperation with the club by hosting the event in one of the country’s beautiful destination ,the Dubai Islands, with the stunning view of Dubai skyline and beach suitable for watersports activity among them are the event taking place this weekend.  

He would also like to invite the public to come and join the competition happening over two days with the third round of UAE Int’l Aquabike Championship, the first round of Dubai Kitesurf Competition and the second round of Dubai Kayak Fising Tournament.
