Oman 44 champion of the Al Maktoum Cup

Oman boat no. 44 owned by the Ministry of Sports in the Sultanate of Oman and led by the skipper Hameed Bin Salim Bin Humaid crowned as champion of the 23rd Al Maktoum Cup Traditional Rowing Race – 30ft organized by the Dubai International Marine Club under the marine sports season 2019-2020.

We witness the race in the Dubai Water Canal in the area of Al Jaddaf in Dubai Creek which gather around 25 top boats from the two rounds of rowing races held under 2019-2020 season participated by the teams in the UAE and from the neighboring country such as the Kingdom of Bahrain and Sultanate of Oman.

In conjunction with the big race yesterday also held the People of Determination Traditional Rowing Race an initiative race organized by the Dubai Police HQ in coordination with DIMC, which gather around 5 boats to compete on the dedicated track.

The event was attended by Col Saeed Salem Saeed Al Madhani, the acting director of the port police station on behalf of Col Obeid Ibrahim bin Houdeb, Lt. Col. Ali Abdulla Naqbi the Head of Dubai Maritime Rescue Department, Mohammed Harib the CEO of DIMC, Mahra Falaknaz the General Secretary of the UAEMSF.

For the first time the Oman 44 took off the title for the Al Maktoum Cup since its launching year last 1997-1998 wherein we saw their distinct performance since the last season and finally they where able to take home the championship title.

On the second spot is the boat no. 60 Al Tayar owned by Hazz’a Mohammed Muhairi , led by Ebrahim Sultan Marzouki which comes behind the boat no. 44 all throughout the race. Successfully taking off the third spot the boat no. 54 the boat from Bahrain the Al Khalidiya owned by Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and led by the skipper Ahmed Nasser Bin Hassan.

Right after the race is the awarding ceremony for the top 3 winner wherein the oman 44 receive the gold boat trophy and medal , the silver one for Al Tayar 60 and the bronze for the Al Khalidiya 54 led by the presence of Mohammed Hareb DIMC CEO,  accompanied by Hezaim Al Gemzi the Director of Sports Department at DIMC  and Mohammed Al Shamsi the Director of Admin Corporate Support to provide a club commemorative trophy to Col Saeed Salem Saeed Al Madhani, the acting director of the port police station on behalf of Col Obeid Ibrahim bin Houdeb as a good collaboration and vice versa DIMC received a shield in honor of port police center in recognition of the existing cooperation between the two sides.
