23 May 2023

The Higher Organizing Committee of the 32nd Al Gaffal Long Distance Race (60ft), which is set to commence from Sir Bu Na’air Island and pass through Moon Island for a distance of 50 nautical miles from the Dubai Shore, is continuously monitoring the preparations and weather forecast to hold the race in its best condition. The race is scheduled to take place from Friday until Sunday.

This prestigious race is held under the patronage and support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. Organized by the Dubai International Marine Club, it serves as the season finale for 2022-2023. The event holds great significance as it is the largest, most prestigious, and highly anticipated race in terms of participation. It pays homage to the heritage of the ancestors while sending a message to future generations, inspired by the legacy of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The Higher Organizing Committee of the Al Gaffal race monitors all the reports received by the National Center of Meteorology and oil field points in the Heart of the Arabian Gulf to identify the state of the sea and the wind speed. This ensures the safety of the participants during their arrival and departure from the starting point at Sir Bu Na’air Island.

Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai International Club, the Higher Organizing Committee has been conducting continuous meetings to review all the preparations and follow up on the upcoming race. The committee aims to ensure the success of the event through cooperation with government departments, agencies, and national institutions who are considered as partners in this endeavor.

The subject of the meeting was to set the date for the Al Gaffal Race, as the registration for participating in the race ends today. After the registration closes, the Committee will announce the Entry List and make preparations for transferring participants to Sir Bu Nair Island. This transfer will occur after the Dubai International Marine Club convoy moves from Port Rashid in Dubai, accompanied by members of the Higher Organizing Committee, Technical and Logistical Support Committees, Jury, and the media partner team from Dubai Media Incorporation.

Accompanying the Dubai International Marine Club's convoy to Sir Bu Na'air Island are several maritime vessels. Among them is the historic yacht "Zabeel," which will be dedicated to the Higher Organizing Committee, as well as a floating field hospital. Additionally, the Quattro Shadow will carry the logistics team for the event, and the Shindagha will accommodate Dubai Media Incorporation. The dignitaries and guests will be hosted by the Dubawi yacht.
