Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) successfully concluded the second round of the Dubai Fishing Competition for Kingfish and Cobia, which was held as part of the marine sports season 2022-2023. Over the four days, more than 70 participants competed in the event with total prize money of 165 thousand Dirhams, out of which 135 thousand Dirhams were awarded to the top 10 winners of the Kingfish Category and 30 thousand Dirhams to the top winners in the Cobia Category.
Jassim Hassan Al Marzouqi won the Kingfish category after catching a fish weighing 28.5 KG with a length of 150 CM, receiving the prize of 25 thousand dirhams. Ali Hajj Al Muhairbi came in second place with a fish weighing 26.2 KG and a length of 149 CM, receiving 20 thousand dirhams.
In the cobia category, Abdulla Ahmed Abdulla Al Mur Al Mehairi, won the top prize of 15 thousand dirhams for catching a fish weighing 23.7 KG and a length of 127 CM, followed by Khaled Khalfan Al Rumaithi who caught a fish weighing 21.6 KG and a length of 116 CM, and received 10 thousand dirhams while the third place goes to Abdullah Hamad Abdullah Al Mazrouie with 20.90 KG fish and length of 127 CM.
Mohammed Al Marri, the Director of Sports Affairs at DIMC, expressed his appreciation for the high level of participation and the quantity of fish caught. He also thanked the sponsors of the event including Delma Marine Company for Industrial Supplies and Marine Services and Al Yazi Marine.
The winners of both categories were crowned in a prize-giving ceremony at the club's headquarters held last Monday,1st of May 2023.
