Traditional Rowing Race (27th Season) Kicks off on Sunday

The launching of the 27th season of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race will be held on Sunday, 2nd of October at Al Jaddaf opposite the Dubai Creek Wildlife Sanctuary organized by Dubai International Marine Club under the sports season 2022-2023. 

This category was first launched during the 1996-1997 season as the implementation of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum insightful vision. The first race for Traditional Rowing was held on the 7th of March 1997, with the participation of 15 boats and won by boat no. 2 Fatah Al Maeen led by Khalifa Ali Al Nazar.

Since the establishment of Traditional Rowing, the club has been organizing more than one round of this category in order to widen its popularity among the locals in the UAE and GCC. This season the club looks forward to attracting more participants and sponsors to join this sport.

The organizing committee at DIMC began coordinating with the partners from the government and national institutions for the success in organizing the opening round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race (30ft) which is the qualifying round for the most expensive rowing race in the season, the Al Maktoum Cup which is scheduled to happen on the 24th of December this year.
