Al Add 30, owned by Mohammed Rashid Al Rumaithi and captained by Mohammed Khalid Al Rumaithi, claimed the Youth Category title, while Al Saroukh 1, owned by Marwan Abdullah Al Marzouqi and captained by Juma Mohammed Al Marzouqi, renewed its dominance in the Juniors Category. Both victories came during the second round of the 22ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race, organized today (Saturday) by Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC), as part of its current sports season covering various marine disciplines.

The race saw the participation of 46 boats, 45 of which successfully completed the course — a positive indicator of the rising skill, strength, and competence of young sailors in both categories. It also highlighted the promising new generation ready to continue the legacy of veteran captains, especially with participation limited exclusively to UAE nationals.

The boats sailed skillfully and precisely across the waters of Dubai before reaching the shores of Jumeirah, in a race marked by high speed and tight competition between participants.

Mohammed Al Marri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at DIMC, crowned the winners and top finishers.
In the Youth Category, Zilzal 25, owned by Marwan Abdullah Al Marzouqi and captained by Abdullah Marwan Al Marzouqi, secured second place, while Zilzal 1, also owned by Marwan Abdullah Al Marzouqi and captained by Ahmed Abdullah Al Marzouqi, finished third.
In the Juniors Category, Dhiban 88, owned and captained by Tarish Ali Al Qubaisi, came in second, followed by Al Dhib 40, owned and captained by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Marzouqi, in third place.

Al Marri praised the high level shown by the participating captains and sailors, who succeeded in selecting the ideal route and advancing quickly toward the finish line. He emphasized that this type of race plays a crucial role in supporting young talents and motivating them to continue progressing into larger dhow categories as they advance in their sporting careers. He also extended appreciation to all partners from government and private entities for their support in ensuring the success of this season’s marine sports events.

For his part, captain Juma Mohammed Al Marzouqi expressed his happiness at securing first place in the Juniors Category, noting that his family has played a major role in encouraging and supporting him in this sport since he was six years old. He hopes to continue building on the achievements made by his family in marine sports.

Meanwhile, captain Mohammed Khalid Al Rumaithi, winner of the Youth Category, affirmed that the support and motivation provided by the Dubai International Marine Club greatly contribute to the success of youth-focused races, playing a pivotal role in inspiring young sailors to continue striving for greater achievements in the future.
