The Al Namoos women's team made a remarkable impact at the UAE Fishing Championship (Kingfish & Cobia), standing out among professional and amateur anglers alike. The team successfully caught two cobia fish with a combined weight of 47 kg, further solidifying their presence in various fishing competitions.
The 2025 edition of the UAE Fishing Championship, organized by the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) over five consecutive days, witnessed enthusiastic participation from 130 competitors, both male and female. Contestants hailed from the United Arab Emirates and diverse communities, including Oman, Yemen, Egypt, Jordan, Comoros, and North Macedonia.
Representing the Al Namoos team, competitor Lamia A. Saiqal (No. 62) secured a 20.35 kg cobia on the third day of the competition. Demonstrating unwavering dedication, the team continued their efforts and, on the fourth day, landed another impressive cobia weighing 26.85 kg, bringing their total catch to over 47 kg.
Lamia, along with teammates Fatima Al-Hammadi, Asma Al-Raisi, and Maryam Al-Amri, expressed their delight in participating in the championship. Having been part of the event since its inception in DIMC’s annual calendar, the team cherished this year’s experience, which provided them with a valuable opportunity to showcase their skills and compete at a high level, earning recognition for their impressive catches.
Team leader Lamia A. Saiqal praised the continuous support and encouragement from the UAE’s leadership, emphasizing the importance of creating opportunities for Emirati women to showcase their abilities. She also commended the role of sports institutions and national clubs, particularly the Dubai International Marine Club, for organizing an exceptional championship that motivates them to participate in future events.
She extended her gratitude to her teammates for their dedication and teamwork. She highlighted their perseverance in enduring long hours in pursuit of the prized catch, ensuring all competition requirements were met while capturing unforgettable moments along the way.
