Mohammed Abdullah Harib, Board Member and CEO of Dubai International Marine Club, successfully completed an administrative mission overseeing the Qatar E1 Doha GP, the second round of the 2025 World Championship. The prestigious event, held recently at The Pearl Island, saw participation from 10 elite international teams.
Harib was entrusted with the role of General Commissioner by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) for the second time since the launch of the E1 World Championship. Previously, he supervised the Monaco Grand Prix, further reinforcing his expertise and leadership in the global marine sports arena.
As a longstanding member of the UIM’s Environmental and Energy Solutions Working Group since its inception in 2012, Harib has played a pivotal role in driving sustainable initiatives. His efforts have contributed to the adoption of clean energy solutions, the reduction of carbon emissions, and the integration of electric and solar-powered technologies in marine sports.
Commenting on the event, Harib highlighted the growing prominence of the E1 World Championship on the UIM calendar, emphasizing its steady global expansion and appeal to high-profile personalities from sports, entertainment, and music. “The championship merges the thrill of Formula 1 racing with the excitement of sailing and powerboat competitions, creating a unique experience that captivates audiences. The involvement of international celebrities from football, tennis, and motorsports further enhances its global appeal,” he stated.
He also praised the organizational success of the 2025 season’s opening rounds, starting with the first race in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and the recently concluded second round in Doha, Qatar. He noted that these races have elevated the championship’s prestige, solidifying its reputation as a premier event in sustainable marine racing.
The E1 World Championship is one of the latest competitions under UIM’s supervision, blending cutting-edge energy solutions with environmental sustainability. The series has attracted global attention, drawing stars from both the entertainment and sports industries alongside top professional marine athletes.
So far, the 2025 season has featured two rounds in the Arab region. The first, held in Jeddah on the Red Sea, saw Team Aoki Racing, led by global music icon Steve Aoki, claim victory. The second round in Doha witnessed an outstanding performance by Team Rafa, captained by Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal, who secured his first historic win in the championship.
As the E1 World Championship continues to gain traction, its emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and elite competition positions it as a game-changer in the future of powerboat racing.
