Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, commended the efforts and achievements of the Victory Team under the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC). The team has gained international recognition by producing high-quality, safety-compliant powerboats. His remarks came during his visit to the DIMC stand at the 31st edition of the Dubai International Boat Show.
During the visit, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan was introduced to the latest developments from the Victory Team, including the VT 51 fishing boat and the VTX 34 pleasure boat. Ahmad Alsumaiti, Director of Sports Team Department, provided an in-depth overview of the club’s participation, highlighting the features of the showcased boats. Additionally, Sheikh Ahmed was briefed on the key events and activities in the club’s annual calendar.
Meanwhile, the second day of the UAE Fishing Championship (Kingfish & Cobia) continued with high participation from 130 fisherman, including UAE nationals and residents from Oman, Yemen, Comoros, Egypt, Jordan, and North Macedonia. The competition has attracted significant interest from fishing enthusiasts and professional athletes.
The tournament has seen fierce competition, with the total number of fish caught rising to 10. Leading in the Kingfish category is competitor No. 69, Marwan Ahmed bin Sheikh Marjan Al Kindi, who caught a 33.75 kg fish. He was followed by No. 107, Ahmed Omar Ahmed bin Sheikh Mujrin Al Kindi, with a 28.20 kg catch, while No. 32, Saeed Mohammed Jaber Al Muhairi, secured third place with a 24.15 kg fish. The fourth spot went to No. 27, Abdullah Hussein Ali Ahmed, with a 23.65 kg catch.
In the Cobia category, competitor No. 58, Abdullah Ahmed Al Marri, secured second place for the second time in the tournament with a 26.65 kg fish. He trailed behind category leader No. 87, Ali Abdullah Lagr, who recorded a 30.05 kg catch on the first day. No. 90, Ali Saeed Al Mazrouei, took third place with a 25.60 kg fish, while No. 105, Rashid Saeed Al Khouri finished fourth with a 19.25 kg catch.
DIMC has been organizing this prestigious event for six consecutive seasons as part of its strategic efforts to attract diverse community members to marine sports. The championship aligns with the UAE’s 2025 Year of Community initiative and serves as one of the key rounds of the UAE Fishing Championship 2025, overseen by the UAE Marine Sports Federation.
Participants in the championship compete for total cash prizes of AED 175,000, in addition to valuable in-kind rewards sponsored by Sayaf Marine, Al Yazi Marine, Da Hunter, Advance Media, Bob Marlin, and Elite Fishing App, which will publish live results via its official fishing app.
