Tomorrow, the Dubai Islands will host the 5th Round of the UAE Rowing Championship, which is being organized by the Dubai International Marine Club in cooperation with the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation as part of the current sports season.
Over 60 male and female competitors from 6 teams - Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club, the British Rowing Club team, New York University Abu Dhabi, Dubai Rowing Team, and Monte Club - are set to compete in the fifth and pre-final round of the UAE Championship 2022-2023, which consists of 15 different categories held in two sessions.
Mohammed Harib, CEO of Dubai International Marine Club, expressed his welcome to all participating clubs and players, adding that the championship is an important part of the club’s calendar in the current sports season and that it enriches the season’s program with a variety of races. He also stated that the championship is a vital platform for talent selection and team readiness, leading to the recent achievements of the UAE national teams such as winning 3 continental medals in the Asian Beach Rowing Championship held in Pattaya, Thailand last month.
Harib confirmed that the UAE Championship has played a significant role in preparing and equipping the players of the national teams for foreign participation. The team is currently preparing for the World Beach Games scheduled in Indonesia next August and the nineteenth edition of the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from 23 September to 8 October, 2023.
The UAE Modern Rowing Championship has returned to the Dubai International Marine Club's calendar of events with great success and the club's board of directors continue to show their interest and keenness in promoting marine sports and enriching the season with various activities and events that would attract new talents, especially since modern rowing is a gateway for heroes to participate in the Olympic Games.
