The Board of Directors at DIMC expressed appreciation for the continuous support received from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, in preserving heritage sports, continuing the legacy of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who initiated the race back in 1991 to preserve and revive the heritage of the forefathers.
The Higher Organizing Committee for the event is led by Chairman Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, with Saif Juma Al Suwaidi serving as Vice Chairman, and its membership includes Khalid Khamis bin Dasmal, Khalid Ali Al Balooshi, and Mohammed Abdullah Harib, CEO at DIMC.
During the meeting, the Board of Directors finalized the race date, which will be sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, scheduled for 10-12 May , with a reserve date from 17-19 May of the same month.

Dubai International Marine Club began departing today for Sir Bu Na’air Island, which includes some vessels and Zabeel Yacht which houses the control committee and a floating hospital with doctors and paramedics, which will be operational before the event and during the race.
Other vessels will also depart on Tuesday towards Sir Bu Na’air Island. These vessels will be used by the committee, including the jury, control committee, and the Dubai Quattro Shadow for logistical operations. The rest of the convoy will depart on Wednesday while waiting for the race day.
The race committee will begin to carry out their work for the arrival of the participants who are awaiting the decision of the organizing committee to proceed safely towards Sir Bu Na’air Island. The initial three years (1991, 1992, and 1993) included the 43ft dhow boat category, until 1994 when the race became dedicated solely to the 60ft dhow boat category.
The winners in the first three years in the 43ft dhow boat category are: Al Aweer 47 (1991), Fares 46 (1992), and Al Aziyab 22 (1993), emerging victorious.
