His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan's boats dominated the top three spots in the 43ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race organized by the Dubai International Marine Club as part of the new sports season 2019-2020.
The three siblings Marwan, Hassan, Ali Abdullah Mohammed Juma Al Marzouqi succeeded in making their boats Zilzal “217”, Hasheem “153” and Namran “259” in the top three place respectively.
The grand race took place last Saturday, 21 September 2019 wherein we witnessed a participation of more than 80 boats which lined up in the Arabian Gulf Water waiting for the green line to set off which marks the start of the race wherein they will sail towards the finish line in front of the iconic Burj Al Arab with a race distance of 11 nautical miles with a wonderful scenery and good wind speed that enable the sailors to move towards the finish line in the suitable time.
The winner of the race 217 “Zilzal’ was owned by HH Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, skippered by Marwan Abdullah Mohammed Al Marzouqi that led them to the finish line against the rival boat.
Going straight for the second prize is the boat 153 “ Hashim” which is also owned by His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and led by the skipper Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, the brother of Marwan.
Another Al Marzouqi completed the top 3 with the boat 259 “Namran” owned by Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and led by Ali Abdullah Al Marzouqi, another brother of Marwan and Hassan which took the first and second place in the race. A exceptional phenomenon was the fact that three boats owned by His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan took the first three places, while Marwan, Hassan and Ali managed to lead these boats to the podium.
Right after the successful race is the awarding for the top three winners led by the presence of DIMC Board Member and CEO, Mohammed Harib and the Director of the Sports Department, Hezaim Al Gemzi with Marah Falaknaz, the Secretary General of the UAEMSF (UAE Marine Sports Federation)
