Dubai International Marine Sports Club ◀◀ organizes the first round of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race within the marine racing calendar 2019-2020

The organizing committee of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing race - first round is now open for the owners and skippers wishing to participate in the race.
They confirmed that the registration for the race available thru link or thru completion of the usual procedure at the clubs headquarter in the working hours from tomorrow until Thursday the deadline for registration.
The organizing committee call the attention of the owners and sailors of participants of the upcoming race to review the rules, conditions and instructions of participation in the race, which includes the procedures of standing properly in the starting line in order to identify them and help in the success of the upcoming race.
Hezaim Al Gemzi, the Director of Sports Department at Dubai International Marine Club, said that the organizing committee will work to prepare early for the start of the race and hold it on time in coordination with the partners from government departments and national institutions that are always working with the club to make all events successful, including the Dubai Police thru Coast Guard , the Dubai Civil Defense , Dubai Media Corporation that will broadcast the race live , Nakheel Group , Dubai Maritime City Authority and P&O Marinas.
He confirmed that the organizing committee is closely monitoring all the reports related to the sea and waves movement thru the daily reports from NCMS (National Center of Meteorology & Seismology) and all the concern about the state of the sea in order to have the race in the best conditions on Saturday. In case of any emergency the committee will notify all the partcipants thru SMS.
It is worth mentioning that DIMC has organized the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race last October which was the postponed round from the last season in which the race ended with the superiority of the boat no. 30 "Al Adeed" which is owned and skippered by Mohammed Rashid Al-Rumaithi, in the second place was Zef Zef boat no. 59 and Rejam boat no. 18 for the third spot.

DIMC to hold the three races for the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race in which the first round is on Saturday , the second round on Saturday , the 21st of December while the third round will be on the 30th Al Gaffal Race

DIMC launched the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race in May 1993 in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, in conjunction with the third edition of the 3rd Qafal Race in 1993.
And winning the said competition is the boat no. 36 "Mansour" followed by Al Khayay boat no. 44 and on the third spot is boat no. 63 "Kahhal"
Dubai International Marine Club has completed its technical requirement and arrangement to have the first round of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race which is organized by the club on Saturday on Dubai beaches within the marine sports season 2019-2020.
Today (Thursday) closes the registration to participate in the first round of the 60ft Dhow Sailing Race which is the inaugural of the race in the new season 2019-2020 wherein last month the club organizes the postponed round of the last season for the 60ft Dhow Race which achieved a great success.
It is expected that today the club will announce the list of participants for the said race in which they will compete on Saturday for the position on the first round of the 60ft Dhow Sailing Race wherein in the club started to receive registration in the beginning of the week and expect to witness a huge participation for the race.
Hezaim Al Gemzi , the Director of Sports Department at DIMC said that the club began its early arrangement began early in coordination with the various government and national institution particularly the Dubai Police , Coast Guard , Dubai Maritime City Authority , Civil Defense , Dubai Media Incorporation and Abu Dhabi Media
He confirmed that the race is expected on Saturday ,an important race for everyone especially the owners and skipper since its the opening round of the said category in the new season 2019-2020 which include three rounds, the next one is on December and the last round will be the most expensive race that closes the whole season , the 30th Al Gaffal.
He said the race will start at the usual Arabian Gulf toward the finish line in front of Burj Al Arab wherein the dhow will sail as soon as the green flag is race with a distance of more than 20 nautical miles from the starting line.
Hezaim, also reminded all the owners and participants to abide the rules and regulations which have been modified and sent thru the link in SMS which is an important thing to know prior to the race on Saturday , this will help the committee to achieve the success of the upcoming race.

The organizing committee at DIMC continues its preparation for the launch of the big event this weekend which is one of the most important races in the season of traditional racing. The committee has announced the start of registration earlier in the club thru SMS mentioning that the approved participants from the previous schedule last November, they don’t need to register again and to those who wish to participate may register thru the link that was sent to them or to visit the club headquarters which is open daily until Thursday, the deadline for the registration. Then the committee will update the final entry list.
They also reminded all the owners and skippers to review the rules and regulations provided in the race instruction of the upcoming event which include the starting line procedure to help the committee in achieving the success in organizing the 60ft Dhow Race.

Dubai International Marine Club will organize on Saturday, the first round of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race under the marine sports season 2019-2020.
The organizing committee had announced already the bug event on Saturday which is the first round of the 60ft Dhow Race under the 2019-2020 championship which includes 3 rounds.
The registration to participate in the big race is available to the link that was sent to the sailors and owners thru SMS or visit the club's headquarter in the working hours until this Thursday prior to the announcement of the entry list for the big race.
The committee also reminded all the owners and sailors participating in the upcoming race to follow the rules and regulations stated in the race instruction which will be sent to them prior to the race day and also the starting procedure to help the committee in achieving the success of the race.
The registration closes today for the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race - Heat 1 organized by Dubai International Marine Club on Saturday in Dubai beaches.
The organizing committee announced the time table of the race which will start 13:30 HRS on Saturday and expected the owners and sailors to arrive early at the Milling Area in which the coordinate will be sent to them via SMS prior to their movement on Saturday.
They also informed those who are valid participants from the previous schedule last December and reminded them to check if there is changes with regards to the information given and while those who wish to participate may register online or visit the club headquarters until today prior to the announcement of the final entry list.
Following the marine reports and bulletin released by the National Meteorological Center (NMC) in which shows the weather conditions, wave and wind speed in assuring the suitable weather for the big race on Saturday, the first round of 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race in the season 2019-2020.
It is expected to have three races within the season in which the first round on Saturday and the second round is scheduled at the end of the month by the 28th of February and to wait for the final round which will be the 30th version of the Al Gaffal Race.
It is worth mentioning that the club had organized last October the postponed round from the last season in which the boat no. 30 "Al Adeed" owned and skippered by Mohammed Rashid Al Rumaithi won the first place while the boat no. 59 "Zef zaf" on second place and the third place goes to no 18 "Rejam".
Dubai's beaches will witness this afternoon the first round of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race organized by Dubai International Marine Club under the marine sports season 2019-2020.
This race was scheduled for last November, but for the safety and security reasons of the participants, it was postponed due to the bad weather conditions and selected the date today which is one of the biggest and important race in the club wherein after two weeks they are expected to organize the second round of the said race.
The organizing committee at Dubai International Marine Club completed all preparations for the start of the competitions today in coordination with government departments and national institutions always behind the success of the event including the

Today race brings together 91 boat with more than 1,000 sailors on board, which will embody the traditions of the parents and grandparents on the journey back from the diving season in the past, between the most beautiful sea destinations where the race will start from the depth of the Arabian Gulf waters towards the finish line in Jumeirah beaches near the iconic Burj Al Arab.

Atlas boat no. 12 owned and skippered by Ahmed Rashid Juma Al Suwaidi top 60ft Dhow Sailing Race – Heat 1 organized by Dubai International Marine Club last Saturday under the marine sports season 2019-2020.
The big event achieved a great technical & organizational success within the participation of more than 70 boats that represent the beautiful pictures of the past in the Arabian Gulf in the shore of Jumeirah where they sailed for 20 nautical miles off to the finish line in the iconic Burj Al Arab.
The crew of the boat no. 12 "Atlas" was successful in taking the right path skippered by Ahmed Rashid Juma Al Suwaidi, a veteran seafarer, which led them to the championship.
The second place was taken by boat no. 91 Mufarej owned by Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan and skippered by Yousef Ahmed Mohamed Al Hamadi which came second to the finish line after the boat no. 12 Atlas.
Soon after the boat no. 91 is the boat no. 55 "Al Tabr" owned by Rashid Mohd. Rashid Bin Ghadir and skippered by Khalfan Suhail Khalfan Al Muhairi, took over the third spot in the race.
It was a tough race between the boat as they struggle to reach the finish line the fastest and the boat, 12 "Atlas" succeeds that led him to being crowned as a champion.
Right after the race was the awarding for the winner in P&O Marina in Jumeirah led by the DIMC CEO Mohammed Hareb with Hezaim Al Gemzi the Director of Sports Department at DIMC handling over the trophy to the top 3 such as Atlas 12 (first), Mufarej 91 (second) and Al Tabr 55 (third).

Dubai International Marine Club decided to postpone the first heat of the Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race - 60ft due to the bad weather forecast expected on Saturday, 27th of November 2021.
Mohammed Harib, the CEO of DIMC said that the club is always prioritizing the principle of security and safety of all the participants in the race.
He stressed that the club has been closely monitoring all developments related to the condition of the sea in the past days and the expected marine bulletin for the coming days through the reports from the National Center of Meteorology and a specialized website for the weather forecast in order to confirm the stability of the sea condition that will greatly affect the success of the race and will give hard time to the sailors since they need to sail 20 nautical miles towards Dubai shore.
The Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race - 60ft will have three races this season, the first one is postponed and to later announce the new date, followed by the Second Round on 8th of January 2022 and the final round would be the Al Gaffal Long Distance Race from Sir Bu Na'air on the month of May 2022.
