DIMC organizes the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race on Saturday within the marine sports season 2019-2020.
The upcoming big race is supposed to be in the last season 2018-2019 but due to the weather condition and congestion with the schedule so they decided to add it in the current season.
The organizing committee of the club had announced the opening of the registration for those who are instersted to participate in the race until Thursday, which is set to be the deadline for the registration before releasing the entry list.
The organizing committee had also began coordinating for the support of the various government depart,ent and national institution such as , including the Dubai Police, Coast Guard, Civil Defense, Dubai Media Incorporated (Dubai Sports Channels), Abu Dhabi Media (Yas Sports TV) , Dubai Maritime City Authority , Nakheel and P&O Marina .
Hezaim Al Gemzi , Director of Sports Department welcome all the participants in which the 60ft Dhow Race is set to have four rounds of the race this season alongside with the different activities and event scheduled by the club for the season.
He stated that the first round will on the 5th of this month (October) , the next one will be on 16th November , another round on 21st of December and to close it with the most awaited and expensive race of the season , the 30th Al Gaffal Long Distance Race which is annually held under the support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum , deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance.
The Director of Sports Department also said that the club is monitoring closely the status of the sea and weather condition thru the reports from the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) in order to establish the best condition for the race which will be from the Arabian Gulf towards the finish line in Dubai shore.
He reminded all the owner and sailor to complete all the registration procedure thru electronic link sent via SMS or thru the club headquarters until 2:00 PM

The Organizing Committee of 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race announced that the start of the race is at 13:00 HRS on Saturday
The registration for the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race closes today which is set to happen on Saturday at 13:00 HRS.
The registration process started since the beginning of the week , last Sunday at the clubs headquarter and thru electronic registration that will continue until Thursday , which is also the deadline for registration and releasing of entry list..
It is expected to witness the big race that will take place the day after tomorrow , Saturday, wherein the race is schedule under the new sports season 2019-2020 which include four rounds on the said category including the race on Saturday
The said race was supposed to be schedule the last season but due to the weather conditions and congestion in the DIMC racing calendar it had been postponed and set to be in the beginning of the new season 2019-2020.
The first race of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race will be on Saturday , followed by the second round on 16th of November , the third one on 21st of December and the last but not the least the most awaited closing race of the season the 30th Al Gaffal Long Distance Race.

It is worth mentioning that the last season 2018-2019 the boat no. 21 Toofan dominated the first round that was held last December 2018.

In the month of May the club , Dubai International Marine Club organized the 29th Al Gaffal Long Distance Race as the closing race of the season 2018-2019 and held as winner of the said race is the boat 96 "Al Shaqi "

Dubai International Marine Club started the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race in the month of May 1993 to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance in conjunction with the third edition of the closing race in 1993 with a participation of 16 boats.
In the coronation of the first official appearance of 60ft Dhow Sailing Race won by the boat no. 36 "Mansour" for the first place, boat no. 44 "Al Khayay" and the boat no. 63 "Kahhal".
Dubai will witness today the first round of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race at 13:00 HRS organized by Dubai International Marine Club under the ,arine sports season 2019-2020 with a participation of 80 boats that will sail today in a race distance of more than 20 nautical miles from the Arabian Gulf toward the finish line at Jumeirah Shores near the iconic Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah.
Today's race was supposed to be scheduled in the marine sports season 2018-2019 but due to calendar congestion and weather forecast the committee has decided to postpone and schedule it today in the current season.
The upcoming race brings together the elite boats of the 60ft Dhow Race whose name has emerged in the previous season for the competition in the final round.
In today's race, we will witness also the boat no. 96 the winner of the last 29th Al Gaffal Long Distance Race along with the leading boats no. in the said competition.
Hezaim Al Gemzi the Director of Racing at DIMC was keen to welcome all the all participants in the race today with the launching of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race in the calendar which includes four rounds this season, the first one happening today, the second on mid-November and the third in December before the end of 2019. And the fourth one will be the most awaited closing race of the season the 30th Al Gaffal Long Distance Race.
He confirmed that the race today will exceed 20 nautical miles from the starting point within the depth of the Arabian Gulf waters to the finish line in the shore of Jumeirah. Everyone is expected to be in the starting line prior to the race at 1:00 PM
The organizing committee of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race organized by Dubai International Marine Club on Saturday had released the provisional result after thoroughly reviewing all the reports and video pertaining to the start line .
They decided to revised the result and cancellation of some boats that didn't follow the rules and regulations of the 60ft Dhow Sailing Race which is all related to their bearings in the start line these comes after the reviewed material shown which affects the decision of the committee.
After releasing the provisional result , the victory goes to boat no. 30 "Al Adeed" which is owned and skippered by Mohammed Rashid Al Rumaithi followed by the boat no. 59 "Zef Zaf" owned by Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and led by Abdulla Ahmed Khadem R. Al Muhairi.
The crew of the boat no. 18 Rejam owned by Tarish Ateeq Ahmed Al Quabaisi and led by his son Ahmed ranked on the third place and getting the fourth spot is boat no. 93 "Falah" which is owned by Mohamed Abdulaziz Ebrahim al Hamadi and led by his son Yousuf.
Going strong of the fifth spot is boat no. 80 "Al Serb" owned and skippered by Al Hur Rashid Khadim Al Muhairi. For the sixth place is boat no. 199 "Hasheem" owned by Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and led by Hassan Abdulla Mohamed Juma Al Marzouqi. The boat no. 183 "Barq" owned by Moahmed Jabir Abdulla Alhamdi and skippered by Jabir Mohamed Alhamadi took the seventh place.
Taking the ninth place is boat no. 19 "Dahees" owned and skippered by Khaedm Rashid Khadem Al Muhairi. And last but not the least for the tenth spot is boat no. 12 "Atlas" owned and led by Ahmed Rashid Juma Al Suwaidi.
Mohamed Hareb , the DIMC Board Member and CEO said that the organizing committee of Dubai International Marine Club seeks to ensure the success of all activities and events through its commitment with the contestants in the implementation of the rules and regulations governing the events and races, which was applied in the race yesterday, where it show some of the boats was not following the procedures in the starting line which is shows clearly in the starting buoy.
He pointed out that the organizing committee at the Dubai International Marine Sports Club has always asked all the owners and sailors to abide fully during the race and to see the regulations, which are sent to them through the link in each race, but seeing what happened the last race was severe that forces the organizing committee to take these decisions. He is wishing everyone for a full commitment in the upcoming races to turnout fine after what happened which reflect the committee's extent of preserving the heritage culture and highlight the organizational process of the race.
He revealed that the organizing committee at the Dubai International Marine Club is setting up a high resolution cameras at the starting line that will show all the excesses of the queuing method, which helps to ensure fairness for all participating boats in application of all the rules and regulations to all.
