Dubai will witness an intense watersports event this weekend , with a community and heritage event together organized by the Dubai International Marine Club from Wednesday until Sunday.
The great heritage race will be held on Sunday, 27th February 2022 with first round of the Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race (60ft) which will bring together the elite sailors and boat owners competing to win the title. Supposedly , this race was scheduled to happen in the first week of this month but due to unsuitable weather forecast the committee has decided to postponed it for the safety of all the participants.
In this season, the club is set to organize 3 rounds of the 60ft Dhow Sailing Race wherein the first round will this coming Sunday , the date for the second round will be announce soon and the third round will be the Al Gaffal Race which is scheduled on the 30th of May.
In conjunction with this heritage event will be the launching of the Dubai Fishing Competition (Heat 1) which will be held on 23rd-26th of February at Jumeirah 5 (Fishermen Harbour 3)
On Sunday, the beaches of Dubai will witness a major sporting event with the launching of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race - Heat 1 which is organized by the club under the ongoing season 2021-2022.
This year (2022) the 60ft Dhow Race celebrates its 30th years since its launching date in 1993 during the third edition of the Al Gaffal Long Distance Race (from Sir Bu Na'air Island to Dubai Coast).
Dubai shore will witness today a great heritage event with the launching of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race - Heat 1 which is organized by the Dubai International Marine Club as part of the marine sports season 2021-2022.
Today's race is important to all the sailors and owners since it represent the first race for the 60ft Dhow Sailing Race category after the season 2020-2021.
DIMC is set to organized 3 rounds of the 60ft Dhow Sailing Race including the first round today while the second round is yet to be announced soon and the third race represent the end of the sports season with the prestigious 31st edition of the Al Gaffal Long Distance Race (from Sir Bu Na'air Island to Dubai Coast) scheduled on the May 2022.
The crew of the boat Hasheem 199 which is owned by Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and led by Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouki was crowned the champion of the first round for the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race.
After the race, the awarding ceremony was held in P&O Marinas for the top 3 winners led by the presence of Mohammed Harib , CEO of DIMC who handed over the trophy to Hasheem (199), Zuerech (120) and Barq(183)
