Dubai Fishing Competition - Heat 1

Dubai International Marine Club organizes the first round of the Dubai Fishing Competition 2020 tomorrow, Thursday 16th of January until Saturday, 18th of January with total prize money of 230,000 dirhams.

The organizing committee of the big event allocated 230 thousand dirhams as the total of the prizes for the competition in the first round, which includes two categories, the Kingfish and the Cobia, where a certain prize is allocated for the top 10 winners in the first category and the top three winners for the second category.

The Dubai Fishing Championship competitions will be held in Jumeirah 5 (Fishermen Harbor 3 ) with a new sponsor Delma Marine – Mercury in partnership with the P&O Marinas, Dubai Cooperative Society for Fishermen, Dubai International Boat Show 2020 and under the supervision of the UAE Marine Sports Federation (UAEMSF)

The winner of the biggest catch in weight in the Kingfish category will take home a total of 75 thousand dirhams wherein the 25 thousand dirhams will be from the organizing committee and the 50 thousand dirhams from the sponsor company Delma Marine - Mercury in addition to that P&O Marina will give a one year free of charge wet berth for a maximum of 15m boat worth of 45 thousand dirhams for the champion of each round.

The committee continues to receive registration and had issued stickers for those who successfully registered with the race instruction that includes some terms and conditions, the method of fishing, how to document it, the timetable and location of fishing handover. The event is rescheduled to start on Thursday after the announcement made by the committee postponing it for 2days (Tuesday original schedule) due to the weather forecast and for the safety of all the participants and to give them the best conditions to catch the biggest fish (in terms of weight).

100 participants for the first round of the Dubai Fishing Championship 2020  organized by the Dubai International Marine Club within the marine sports season 2019-2020 which will start today-Thursday-and will continue until Saturday (16th-18th January 2020).

Hezaim Al Gemzi, Director of Sports Department at DIMC revealed that the fishing enthusiast in the country awaits for this event that's why the participation became double compare to the last year as the event turn out to be a success and for the first in this event the female participants which are sponsored by Delma Marine - Mercury. 

He said that the organizing committee allocated 230 thousand dirhams as the prize for the participants which will be distributed to the one that will take top places in the two categories (Kingfish and Cobia). The Dubai International Boat Show 2020, will provide a golden opportunity for the champions of the tournament at the end of the second round to participate in the International Fishing Competition.

Today will end the first round of the Dubai Fishing Championship 2020 which is organized by Dubai International Marine Club within the Marine Sports Season 2019-2020.  The first round of the competition was able to gather large participation of the 100 fishing enthusiasts residing in the UAE among them are from Tunisia, Egypt, Oman, Comoros.

The participants aim to win the big prize of the competition which amounting to 230 thousand dirhams in total for both categories the Kingfish and Cobia with the allocated prize for the top participants with the sponsor Delma Marine, P&O Marina, and Dubai International Boat Show.  

The organizing committee for the Dubai Fishing Championship competitions decided to continue the handover of the fish until today at the P&O Marina headquarter from 4-8 PM and the awarding ceremony for the winner tomorrow  (winner will be notified via SMS for the location and time).

The participant no. 01 Saeed Mohammed Jaber Al Muhairi took the limelight on the first day of the competition with the fish weighing 24.20kg and reaching 150 cm making him the biggest catch of the first day in Kingfish of category.

Participant no. 85 Saoud Mohamed Algheelani was crowned as champion of the Dubai Fishing Competition first round for the Kingfish Category with 29.95 KG organized by the Dubai International Marine Club within the marine sports season 2019-2020 held for three consecutive days (16-18th of January 2020). And hailed as a champion in cobia Category is Salem Ghanem Bin Ghanem Al Marri participant no. 40 who catches 28.20 KG fish.

Success in the first round of the competition wherein the committee was able to gather 100 fishing enthusiasts residing in the UAE among them are from Tunisia, Egypt, Oman, and Comoros.

The participant no. 85 Saoud Mohamed Algheelani took the biggest Kingfish during the three days of the competition with a weight of 29.55 KG and length of 154 cm to get the total prize of 120 thousand Dirhams wherein 25 thousand provided by the organizing committee and 50 thousand from Delma Marine and one year free of charge wet berth for a maximum of 15m boat worth of 45 thousand dirhams provided by P&OMarinas. The second place in the same category goes to no. 63 Abdulla Alhaj Abdulla Almuhairibi who catches 24.70 KG and takes home the 20 thousand dirhams prize and taking over the third place is the last year title holder participant no. 1 Saeed Mohamed Jabir Al Muhairi who catches 24.20 KG fish and take home the 18 thousand dirhams prize.  And the rest until the top 10 take home the prizes allotted for them.

On the other category, the “Cobia”, the winner is participant no. 40 Salem Ghanem Bin Ghanem Al Marri who catches a fish weighing 28.20 kg with a total prize of 30 thousand dirhams provided in half by the committee and the Delma Marine. The second place in the same category goes to Abdulqadir Ahmed Abdulqadir who catches 23.20 KG of cobia fish with 10 thousand dirhams prize and the third place goes to no.  36 Saif Mohamed Saif Handool Almehairbi, who catches 23KG fish and take home the 5 thousand dirhams prize.

Awarding Ceremony

The awarding ceremony took place at the P&OMarinas headquarter yesterday with the presence of Mohamed Harib, CEO of DIMC, Hezaim Al Gemzi, Director of Sports Department, Ahmed Al Suwaidi head of the fishing committee, and Ayoub Al Khaja, Director of Delma Marine and  Saeed Khalifa Al-Marri the Senior Manager, P&O Marina.

In association with the community initiative, the Dubai International Marine Club for the third year in a row organized the Dubai Fishing Competition wherein the profits of the fish gathered are donated to the charitable works through specialized association and institution. 

Dubai beaches witness the Dubai Fishing Competition first round with total prize money of quarter of million dirhams and with the participation of 100 contestants which competed for the two categories: Kingfish and Cobia. 

The Dubai Fishing Championship first round was supported and sponsored by Delma Marine for Boats and Mercury for  Marine Engines, P&O Marinas, Dubai World Boat Show 2020 and Dubai Fishermen's Cooperative Society

 The total weight of the fish approved by the Organizing Committee for the Dubai Fishing Championship (the first round) amounted to more than half a ton for the Kingfish and Cobia categories was 570.72 kg, which the Organizing Committee submitted it to the Dubai Fishermen's Cooperative Society.

The participant's handover a total of 29 fish (22 Kingfish and  7 Cobia ) as the total weights in the Kingfish amounts to 434.12 KG while the total weights in the Cobia amounted to 136.6 KG.

Mohammed Abdullah Hareb, CEO of Dubai International Marine Club, said that the organizing committee at DIMC has been following these initiatives since the establishment of the competition in order to encourage various segments of society and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the club and the follow-up from the
Council of the Club headed by Ahmed Saeed bin Meshar.

He express his thanks and appreciation to all the partners of the club in organizing the event, and the Dubai Cooperative Society for Fishermen and to its board of directors for the great efforts in the process of receiving and selling the fish through its channels and providing the profits proceeds to the club that has a direct association with the Charitable works and public benefit.

 

In honor of the event sponsors, the CEO of DIMC handed over the honorary shield to express club gratitude towards the Delma Marine Company received by its Director, Ayoub Al Khaja as well as Saeed Khalifa Al Marri the Senior Manager at P&O Marinas.
 

It is worth mentioning that the competitions of the Dubai Fishing Championship First Round resulted in the victory of the participant no. 85 Saoud Mohamed Algheelani, a champion of the Kingfish category. 

The contestant no. 91 Ahmed Ibrahim Al Mandoos participated in the Dubai Fishing Competition handed over two fish in the Kingfish category with a weight reached 33.35 kg, and the committee decided to calculate the weight of each one separately, as the weight of the largest fish reached 17.55 kg qualifying it to occupy the 16th position.
