Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) will host the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race on Friday , the first round of the Dubai Championship under the marine sports season 2019-2020.
The event will be held in conjunction with the launching of the largest community sports events the "Dubai Fitness Challenge" (30 minutes for 30 days), which will start on Friday and will last until the 16th of November.
The organizing committee of the Dubai International Marine Club had announced that the registration for participation is now open for those who are interested to participate for the first round of the rowing race to be held on 18th this month and the next round is set to be in the first of November before the final round , the Al Maktoum Cup on 22nd of November.
Starting from Sunday the committee will received registration to participate on its working hours daily until its closing day for registration on Thursday at the club headquarters and right after to release the entry list of participants.
It is expected that the race on Friday will gather a large participation among the rowing team from the UAE and also from the GCC country wherein the last season we witness the emerged of the Rowing Champions from Oman and Kingdom of Bahrain.

It is worth mentioning that the Dubai International Marine Club launched the traditional rowing boats competition (30ft) for the first time on the seventh of March 1997 under the guidance and support of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance
The competitions of this category have been a great success represented in the participation of the owners and crews with the participation of 15 boats.
The registration of Dubai Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft closes today organized by Dubai International Marine Club within the marine sports season 2019-2020 in conjunction with the launching of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (30 minutes of workout every day for 30 days).
The organizing committee of the race scheduled it for Friday which is the start of the Rowing race in the season which include the most expensive race in this category , the Al Maktoum Cup, wherein the committee have called all the participants to expedite their registration process thru the online process that was sent via SMS or thru the club headquarters
The organizing committee of the Dubai International Marine Club has completed all organizational steps in coordination and consultation with various government and national institutions, including Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police General Headquarters and Dubai Media Corporation, which will transmit the live race through Dubai Sports Channels, Dubai Civil Defense and Yas Sports TV.
It is expected that the race we will witness tomorrow(Friday) with a large participation of rowing enthusiast from the UAE and also from the GCC countries, wherein the last season 2018-2019 recorded the emergence of rowing champions from Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The organizing committee of the race issued the full schedule of the event on Friday which starts early from 9:00 am by completing the technical examination procedures on the participating boats and distribution of wrist band for the participants then right after will be the race briefing to further explain the instruction and to conduct the draw of the flag which will determine who will be on the first and second round.
The organizing committee set the race on Friday at 3:00 in the afternoon prior to that is the time limit of the boat to starting line for the first round and right after will be the second set. Right after the race will be the technical inspection for the top three boats and the awarding ceremony for the winner.

60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race Winner Awarding
On the other hand, in the headquarters of the Dubai International Marine Club on Wednesday morning we witnessed the coronation ceremony of the champions of the 60ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race which was organized by the club last Saturday on 5th of this month in the shores of Dubai led by the presence of Mohammed Hareb, CEO and Hezaim Al Gemzi the Director of Sports Department
With the owners & representatives of the winning top 3 boat to recieve the trophies assigned to them according to the approved results, which are the boat no. 30 "Al Adeed" which is owned and skippered by Mohammed Rashid Al Rumaithi followed by the boat no. 59 "Zef Zaf" owned by Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and led by Abdulla Ahmed Khadem R. Dubai Traditional Rowing Race – 30ft first round today (Friday, 18th October 2019) organized by Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) under the marine sports season 2019-2020 in conjunction with the opening of the Dubai Fitness Challenge #Dubai30x30, (30 minutes of workout every day for 30 days).
The race is set to take place in between the Dubai Water Canal and the Dubai Creek, off in the Al Jaddaf area near the Wildlife Sanctuary where the races will return to the same venue where it was held the last season (2018-2019). In the race today we will witness a participation of 40 boats from elite rowing enthusiast from the UAE and the GCC country wherein the last season we saw the Oman Team dominated the championship and the Team participation from the Kingdom of Bahrain.
As per the Committee’s Time Table as early as 9:00 AM the technical inspection procedure will start for all the participating boats and the distribution of wrist band for the participants then right after will be the race briefing to further explain the race instruction and to conduct the draw of the flag which will determine who will be on the first and second round. Prior to the race start at 3:00 PM, all the participating boats are expected to be in starting line on or before 2:30 PM then right after all the race will be the Technical Inspection for the top 3 boats before proceeding for the awarding ceremony of the winner. The organizing committee also announces that the race will be live thru Dubai Sports TV Channel on Friday at 3:00 PM.
The boats from the Kingdom of Bahrain and Oman snatched the top spot at the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race organized by Dubai International Marine Club on Friday as part of the marine sports season 2019-2020 in conjunction with the Dubai Fitness Challenge (#Dubai30x30)
The Dubai Water Canal in the Al Jaddaf area near the Dubai Creek Wildlife Sanctuary witnessed a great maritime heritage sport gathering of 470 individuals competed strongly on 42 elite boats divided into two halves with a race distance of 2.3 KM. The event is the opening round of the rowing race in the new season 2019-2020 which include two rounds per season and the next round is set to be scheduled on 8th of the next month (November) and the Al Maktoum Cup on the 22nd of it.
The Bahrain’s boat “Khalidiya” 54 owned by Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and led by Ahmed Bin Nasser Bin Hassan, impressed the crowd in the first half, which carried the orange flag to overtake 20 boats and competed in the second half their other boat. The Bahrain’s boat makes their second appearance in the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race after participating for the last season for the first time.
In the second place is boat no. 60 “Al Tayar” owned by Hazza Mohammed Al Muhairi and led by Ebrahim Sultan Al Marzouqi while on the third spot is the the Dubai Police boat no. 3 (the defending champion Dubai 2017-2018 and runner-up 2018-2019) Under the leadership of the Dubai Police General Headquarters and led by Mohammed Ismail Mashmoum Al-Falasi .
In the second half with the green flag, we saw the excitement and thrill of the competition as the boat from the GCC emerged. Humaid bin Salim bin Humaid Al Bahri from boat 44 “Oman” won the first place as his crew pushed thru in the finish line and maintained their title as the last season winner.
While the boat no. 53 “Victorious” owned by Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and led by Hamad Khalid Al Rameehi take the second spot amid the chase from the boat Oman 44 to the last meters. On the third spot is boat no. 18 “Khazam 1” owned by Sheikh Majid bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi and led by the veteran Abdulla Ahmed Mohamed Ahmedou.
Right after the race was the prize giving ceremony for the top 3 winners of each half as the following : Al Khalidiya (45), Al Tayar (60), Dubai Police GHQ(3) for the first half and Oman (44), Victorious(53) and Khazam 1 (18) for the second half. Led by the presence of Mohammed Hareb the DIMC CEO , Lt. Col. Ali Abdullah Al Naqbi, the head of the maritime rescue department at Dubai Police , Hezaim Al Gemzi the Director of Sports Department and Mohammed Al Shamsi the Director of Admin Corporate Support.
