The excitement is back for the second round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft under the marine sports season 2020-2021 which will take place on Friday at the Dubai Water Canal next to the Wildlife Sanctuary in the Al Jaddaf area.
Yesterday, the organizing committee at Dubai International Marine Club announced the opening of registration to participate in the said event thru the electronic link that was sent to them or via the club official website. The registration process will continue until Thursday and will announce the final list of participants.
The importance of the second round competition for the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft will determine the top boats to compete for the most expensive race in the said category , the Al Maktoum Cup on its 24th edition. The first round of the race was held IN conjunction with the Dubai Fitness Challenge 30 x 30 wherein we witnessed a great participation of the nearby Gulf country such as the Omani Team boat no. 44 and the two team from Bahrain the Victorious 53 and KHK 54.
The new regulations have been adopted by Dubai International Marine Club this season wherein the boats have been modified to practice the social distancing among the participants wherein the crew have been down to 9 (8 sailors and 1 leader ) previously it was 11. The event will also provide opportunity to the fanatic of this sports from the resident to join the competition and be with the crew.
In the first round we witnessed a great turnout of participations with 37 boats that was divided into two the one from the yellow flag and the other one from the red flag. The Oman 44 top the first group which is a boat owned by the Ministry of Culture and Sports & Youth in the Sultanate of Oman led by Humaid Salim Bin Humaid Al Bahri and from the second group the Victorious 53 from Bahrain, owned by Sh. Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and led by skipper Abdulla Khalid Al Haddi.
It is worth noting that the Dubai Traditional Rowing race is one of the oldest local heritage marine races organized by the Dubai International Marine Club, wherein it became famous in 1997 with the blessing and support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, wherein it was held as the most expensive tournament in the said category starting from the Al Maktoum Cup in 1998 which is represented by the elite boats that qualifies the championship.
Tomorrow, Friday will be the second round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft organized by the Dubai International Marine Club as part of the marine sports season 2020-2021 to be held in the Dubai Water Canal in Al Jaddaf region.
The organizing committee at the club continues its preparations for the upcoming race, as the race registration process continues via the (electronic link) or thru the club’s official website until today (noon) which is set to be the deadline for registration prior to the announcement of the final entry list for the race tomorrow.
The organizing committee at DIMC announced since last Sunday, the opening of registration to participate in the grand race, after the great success of the first round competitions that took place in conjunction with the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2020 last month with the participation of 37 boats among the UAE and GCC country such as the Kingdom of Bahrain represented by Victorious 53 , KHK 54 and the Sultanate of Oman represented by boat no. 44.
The first round race witnessed the crowning of last season’s champion, the boat Oman 44 affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of the Sultanate of Oman and led by Humaid Salim Bin Humaid Al Bahri and from the second group the Victorious 53 from Bahrain, owned by Sh. Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and led by skipper Abdulla Khalid Al Haddi.
The competition for the round two of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race will take place tomorrow , Friday , which is an important race that represents a crossroad towards the championship as this will rank them to be selected as the top elite boats to compete in the most expensive race in this category, the Al Maktoum Cup Traditional Rowing Race on its 24th edition.

The organizing committee of the Dubai International Marine Club announced the scheduled of the race that will start from morning for the Technical Scrutineering, followed by the distribution of the wrist band during the briefing and draw of the participants that will determine who would be in the group 1 and 2 of the race that will start at 15:00 HRS. Right after the two race will be the awarding ceremony for all the winner.

The Dubai Water Canal will host the second round competitions of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft Championship, which is organized by the Dubai International Marine Club, as part of the activities for the marine sports season 2020-2021.
The said event will be held in Al Jaddaf in Dubai Water Canal next to Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary with a bustling activity from morning at nine o'clock with the team of the participating boats.
The organizing committee will conduct a Technical Scrutineering for the boats and will distribute wrist band to the participants followed by the race briefing by the Race Director , Hazeem Al Gemzi that will supervise the race and will answer the queries of the skippers and owners. Furthermore the draw also will be held to determine who would be in the first and second group of the race.
The first half of the race will start at 15:00 HRS today (Friday) followed by the second half of the race in the water of Dubai Canal towards the finish line at Dubai Creek (opposite of Festival City) with a distance of 2.7 KM. And right after the race will be the awarding ceremony of the winner.

The result of the first round won by the Oman 44 in the first half and the Bahraini team Victorious 53 which leads the general standing and will find out today who among them will lead the way to the final round that will happen on the 25th of this month.
Mohammed Hareb , the CEO of the DIMC said that the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race is one of the oldest heritage racing organized by the club and popularized in 1997 with the blessing and support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and continued it strongly after the launch of the most expensive race in this category, the Al Maktoum Cup in 1998, which represents as the most important challenge for the participants in the Dubai Traditional Rowing Championship which serve as the qualifying round for the top elite to take on this challenge.
He added that in the current season (2020-2021) we celebrate the 24th edition of the race that embodies the heritage of the country and people of each region wherein he said that we are overwhelmed with happiness with the participation of the GCC countries that makes the difference in the event. Also the new regulations approved by the club with regards to the boat changes in order to achieve physical distance between the participants and it provided an opportunity for fans of this sport from the resident communities in the country to experience a new experience and participate in the championship.

The organizing committee of the Dubai International Marine Club, according to the new amendments, determined the number of persons in each boat with a total of 9 individuals instead of 11 previously, including one leader and 8 skipper and each boat has the right to include two people who hold the Emirate ID regardless of nationality for a chance to participate in the race.
The sibling boat from Kingdom of Bahrain and Sultanate of Oman continues their remarkable win in the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft (Heat 2) organized by Dubai International Marine Club last Friday under the marine sports season 2020-2021.
The Oman 44 owned by Ministry of Culture , Sports & Youth led by Humaid Bin Salim Bin Humaid Al Bahri took the first place in the first half of the rowing race while the boat KHK 54 owned by Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and led by Ahmed Nasser Al Busmit won the top spot in the second half of the race.
The big race that took place on the Dubai Water Canal which achieved a great success with the participation of 40 boats with more than 350 people on board, who all competed to grab the first place in the first and second halves represented by blue and orange flag among them are the GCC participants such from Kingdom of Bahrain and Sultanate of Oman in addition to the UAE residence and fan of this sports.
The spirit of excitement and challenge has dominated in the race's atmosphere since the beginning, as the second round is the last stage to qualify their participation in the most expensive race in this category the Al Maktoum Cup on in its twenty-fourth edition, which represents the end of the racing season of this category that will happen on the 25th this month.
First Half of Competition
The first half of the competition was tough between the Oman 44 owned by Ministry of Culture , Sports & Youth led by Humaid Bin Salim Bin Humaid Al Bahri that snatched the first place against the Dubai Police GHQ 3 led by Mohamed Isa Al Mansoori and the third spot goes to Victorious 53 owned by Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and led by Abdulla Khalid Al Haddi.
Second Half of Competition
As the excitement continues in the second half of the race among the 19 boat the KHK 54 was able to take over the lead which owned by Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and led by Ahmed Nasser Al Busmit againts the rival boat no. 39 Asas owned by Khalifa Rashid bin Shaheen and led by Badar Abdulhakim Moahmed Thani Bin Thani . And on the third position Dubai/1 no. 51 owned and led by Ahmed Mohd. Ebrahim Al Mar'ei.
Awarding Ceremony
After the end of the race (first and second half) is the warding ceremony for the top three winners led by the presence of Mohammed Hareb , CEO of DIMC with Lt. Col. Ali Al Naqbi, Head of the Marine Rescue Department in Dubai Police and Hazeem Al Gemzi , the race director.

With the conclusion of the rounds of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race Championship (30ft), which qualify the elite boats for the most expensive tournament (Al Maktoum Cup), the Organizing Committee announced the date of the twenty-fourth edition to be held on the 25th of this month.
