DIMC will organize the second and final round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft on Saturday at the waters of Dubai Canal in the Al Jaddaf area under the sports season 2021-2022.
The organizing committee has chosen the Dubai Water Canal to host the great race with a distance of 2.3 KM which will be held opposite of the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary and along the Al Jaddaf walkway.
The club announced the opening of the registration for those who would like to participate wherein it is expected to gather around 40 elite boats prior to the closing registration until 2:00 PM on Thursday.
Looking back, DIMC organized the first round of the race in mid-October wherein we witnessed the victory of Ajman (60) owned by His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, and led by Juma Yousef Al Junaibi, topped the first half of the opening round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race last Saturday at Al Jaddaf. While on the second half the Bahraini team dominates the race with KHK 54 owned by Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and led by the captain Ahmed Bin Nasser Bin Hassan Al Busumait.
Dubai International Marine Club in line with the development of the traditional races the club decided to launch an open class for the first time in Dubai Traditional Rowing Race – 30ft which aim to add excitement and increase awareness among sponsor and institution to encourage them to participate in traditional races and watersports activities.
Mohammed Harib, the CEO of DIMC said that the Board of Directors of DIMC headed by Ahmed Saeed Bin Meshar and the Sports Committee headed by Rashid Thani Al Aail encourages everyone to keep up with the pace of the approved Strategic Plan 2021-2027. This step taken by the club indicates a new imprint in the watersports development that started since its founding year in 1988.
He stressed that the decision to add an open race to government and national institution and the boats from the GCC countries is to raise awareness of the traditional sports from various sector in the society urging them to participate and witness the sports.
He also explain that the Dubai Traditional Rowing Races were launched way back in 1996-1997 by the late Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum from that season until now the sports continuously evolved and developed where it extended its participation among the GCC country and now, to open it to various government and national institution sector.
The open class will be according to the updated rules and regulation for the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race with the same specification of 9 sailors (1 leader and 8 crew ) without being restricted to their nationality but must provide a proof of identification.

The DIMC launching of open class for Dubai Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft was anticipated well by the sports enthusiast, participating government team, national institution and the people from GCC countries.
The second round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft tomorrow will witness participation from the Kingdom of Bahrain and Sultanate of Oman which will raise the excitement among participants. For the first time, the club will organize the open class race based on the new rules in the race instruction that will increase awareness of Traditional Sports among the fans, institutions and companies.

The delegation of the Bahraini Committee for Traditional Sports arrived in Dubai last night which includes Khalid Abdulaziz Al Awadhi, the Vice Chairman of the Committee, Ahmed Sabt Sanad, Chairman of the Committee for Popular Rowing Competitions, and Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Shamlan, Director of Competitions, in addition to the boat crews of KHK54 owned by Sheikh Khalid. Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, led by Ahmed Al Busmait and the boat Victorius 53 owned by Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and led by Abdullah Khalifa Al Haddi, where the two boats will take on the challenge on Saturday.

The Dubai International Marine Club received a letter of thanks and appreciation from the Omani Marine Sports Committee at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for the great efforts and continuous cooperation in strengthening the bonds of the region by inviting them to participate in this event.
In a letter sent by Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Salem Al Ameri, Chairman of the Committee address to Mohammed Harib, CEO of DIMC states the participation of two boats for the first time in the name of the Sultanate of Oman in the race happening tomorrow, for the open class which will be held for the first time. The boat namely Oman 44 and Oman 96.
According to Humaid bin Salim bin Humaid Al Bahri, the captain of the boats Oman 44 and Oman 96 the race organized by DIMC is towards a renewable initiative including the launching of the open class for the Traditional Rowing Race Tomorrow.
"We are returning to this championship this season and we are eager to participate and achieve success especially in celebration of the Sultanate of Oman National Day which gives more encouragement to bring home the victory. Wayback in, Al Maktoum 2019 where the team topped the overall standings." Al Bahri added.
The sailors and owners participating in the second round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race welcome the initiative to launch the open race through the enlightenment meeting held last Monday which explained and introduced this initiative presented by the CEO of DIMC, Mohammed Harib.

The second round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race today, in Dubai Water Canal in Al Jaddaf region which is organized by Dubai International Marine Club under the sports season 2021-2022.
Today’s race is an important milestone as it is a qualifying round for the Al Maktoum Cup Traditional Rowing Race which is on its 25th edition since its establishment way back in 1998. The race will have its open class for the first time in the history of the championship.
The Bahraini boat (KHK54), owned by Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and led by Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hassan Al Busmait, was crowned the champion of the open class in the race of the second round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft which was held last Saturday in the Dubai Water Canal.
The race was successfully organized by Dubai International Marine Club under the current season 2021-2022 with the participation of 35 boats carrying more than 300 sailors which embodies the epic race in Dubai Water Canal near the Al Jaddaf region as the start line, that goes towards the finish line in the Dubai Festival City, one of the prestigious landmarks in Dubai Creek along with the Wildlife Sanctuary.
The second round of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft features the open class category for the first time in the history of the Championship that attracted the public interest and the people from the GCC countries to participate.
Bahraini boat “KHK 54” once again topped the championship after its outstanding performance in the first round and its achievement in the last season winning the 24th edition of the Al Maktoum Cup in Traditional Rowing Race.
