Marine Sports enthusiast in Dubai awaits the weekend activity of the Dubai International Marine Club wherein they are set to organize the second week for the series of Dubai Watersports Festival. The club aims to reach out thru community event that will encourage everyone to join in spreading the concept of watersports among the public.
The club revealed its plan for the Second Week of Dubai Watersports Festival on Saturday dedicated for the important segment of the society, the People of Determination who will participate for the first time in the Kayak event that aims to empower their role in the watersports.
The said event will be held in the picturesque Crystal Lake located in the residential suburb of District One in the luxurious Mohammed Bin Rashid City near the Meydan Hotel and the Meydan Bridge in Nad Al Sheba.
Mohammed Hareb, the CEO of Dubai International Marine Club said that organizing the event “We Kayak for People of Determination” is a renewed initiative of the club to involve this segment of the society in the various events prepared by the club. In the previous season 2019-2020 wherein the People of Determination joined in the Traditional Rowing Race in cooperation with the General Command of Dubai Police.
He added that “We, at DIMC are delighted to renewed initiative with the People of Determination in another marine sports event which will be the set activity for the second week of Dubai Watersports Festival.” An artificial lake will be the venue for the event located at District One as of the projects of Meydan Group which will strengthen the club role to promote tourist attraction and places in the emirates, as it happened before in the “We Paddle for Dubai in Burj Khalifa, in Hatta and in Kite Beach.
He also would like to take the opportunity to thanked all the governments and national institutions that contributed always to the success of the activities and events organized by the club, including the Festival (We Kayak for People of Determination), which is held in coordination with Dubai Club For People Of Determination, thru the efforts of Majid Al-Usaimi Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Club For People Of Determination in his support and eagerness for the success of the initiative.
It is also remarkable cooperation between the club and the Meydan Group which manages the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City Project and the First District thru the efforts of Mohammad Abdul Nasser Al Khayat, Senior Vice President – Mall and Commercial, Meydan Group LLC for the fast response and approval to hold the event in the Crystal Lake that will provide a wide range of fun in marine activities such as swimming, kayaking and other recreational activities.
He would like to thanked the General Command of Dubai Police that provides continuous support in all the activities and events by the club including the upcoming “We Kayak for People of Determination” by providing the boats to be used by the participants in the event.
Friday
On the first day of the Dubai Watersport Festival we will witness the first round of the Dubai Junior Regatta to be held in Jumeirah in cooperation with Dubai Offshore Sailing Club (DOSC)
The Crystal Lake in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum City Project - District One in Meydan will host this afternoon at 2:00 PM the We Kayak for People of Determination organized by Dubai International Marine Club as part of the second week of Dubai Watersports Festival Series 2020-2021.
It comes within the framework of the Club's Board of Director to involve all the segment of society in marine sports activities in order to give opportunity in an ideal atmosphere to take on new challenges and in cooperation with the various institution in the country such as the Dubai Club for People of Determination.
A unique sports day decorated with happiness and joy in the festival for "We Kayak for People of Determination" and traditional rowing boats in the event organized by Dubai International Marine Club in the current season in order to involve members of the community and increase various sports activities and events.
The festival was held in the Crystal Lake in Mohammed Bin Rashid City District One under the Meydan Group which achieved great success with participation of more than 50 athletes for the Dubai Club for People of Determination and affiliated clubs and institutions.
The joyful festival was attended by Mohammed Hareb , the CEO of DIMC and UNICEF Ambassador in UAE Majid Al-Usaimi , the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Club For People Of Determination, with Lt. Colonel Ali Abdullah Al Naqbi, Director of the Water Rescue Department at Dubai Police and Hazeem Al Gemzi the Director of Sports Department at DIMC who also supervised the said event.
The great effort of the organizing committee of Dubai International Marine Club in cooperation with the Dubai Club for People of Determination, the General Command of the Dubai Police, the Water Adventure Foundation, which provided kayaks and logistical support, and the Meydan Group, which hosted the festival in the heart of Dubai with a wonderful scenery of the largest man made lake.
The Dubai Police provide safety and security for all the participants and they also provided a Traditional Rowing Boats -30ft to inspire all the attendees and to give them an opportunity to try it under the supervision of the Dubai Police sailor led by Mohammed Mashmoom Al Falasi.

The festival showed a great enthusiasm, capabilities and great desire of people of determination to take a new experience and discover this sport, especially since kayaks/rowing are one of the well-known Paralympic sports for local and international competitions held for People of determination.
It was attended by the most prominent athletes of people of determination in various sports and games wherein we witnessed the participation of its well-known heroes and stars of the national team for the People of Determination.
At the end it brings smile to everyone’s face as the participants received the commemorative medals honoring the first line of defense the “Front Liner” who had given their loyalty and humanity to the homeland to help fight the pandemic Corona Virus .

He added that the club prepares for a series of Dubai Watersports Festival wherein for the first time in club’s calendar. In the first week the club organizes to provide opportunity to learn the basic of Aquabike and Hydrofly to the juniors to encourage them to practice new sports /hobby in an appropriate atmosphere and supervision of the club’s technical and professional staffs.

He stressed that the festival represent the starts of the great cooperation and partnership with the various institutions in the Emirate of Dubai under the patronage and support of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, with the support of the Dubai Sports Council and the fast response from the DIMC from the idea proposed in a radio program into an actual stunning event.
The Chairman of the Asian Paralympic Committee and Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Club For People Of Determination added that the kayak competition is one of the activities recognized in the championships in the Paralympic Sports Tournament, which provides an opportunity to discover the capabilities of our people in this sport in cooperation with the club (DIMC) to make this event a successful one.
