Dubai International Marine Club organizes on Friday the Al Maktoum Cup Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft as the end of this race category in the season 2019-2020 which brings together the elite boats and teams that have achieved the top spot in the season.
The upcoming Al Maktoum Cup Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft will be its 23rd version since the club organized the prestigious race in 1998 and continues it annually up to the current 23rd version on Friday.
In the first edition in 1998 of the Al Maktoum Cup Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft was won by the boat "Baz" with 22 crew on boat which will be depended this year by the boat no. 25 Al Qartasi, the defending champion of the last year.
The race will be held on Friday in between the Dubai Water Canal and the Dubai Creek, off in the Al Jaddaf area near the Wildlife Sanctuary and opposite of the Swiss International School with a race distance up to 2.5 KM from the starting line.
25 elite boat will take part in the 2019-2020 season of the Al Maktoum Cup Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft with the participation of the competitors among the UAE as well as the neighboring country the Kingdom of Bahrain and Oman.
Dubai Water Canal is witnessing today a big race, the 23rd version of the Al Maktoum Cup Traditional Rowing Race -30ft which is the most expensive tournament in this race category that symbolizes the end of the rowing races in the season 2019-2020.
The race is set to take place at 3:15 in the afternoon in the waterfront of Dubai Water Canal in Al Jaddaf area opposite the Swiss International School and next to the Dubai Creek Wildlife Sanctuary with a distance of 2.3 KM from the starting line off to the finish line in Dubai Creek.
The major event will be accompanied by a distinguished community initiative organized by the Dubai Police in cooperation with Dubai International Marine Club the Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft for the People of Determination which comes from the framework of the Dubai Police General Headquarters to support the various segments of the community through the Council of the People of Determination.
The upcoming Al Maktoum Cup is now on its 23rd version under its legacy that took place since 1997-1998 which is the first race organized by the Dubai International Marine Club in 1998 for the said category and successfully continues it annually up to the current version.
The first edition of the Al Maktoum Cup for the Traditional Rowing Race was organized by the club under the season 1997-1998 won by the boat AlBaz owned by Mohammed Hassan Obeid Al Jallaf and led by the skipper Ahmed AlNobi.
Al Qartasi boat no. 25 was crowned as the winner of the 22nd Al Maktoum Cup Traditional Rowing Race which is owned Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Head of Ajman Tourism Development Department and led by the skipper Imran Al Muhairi with the hope of defending their title in today's race

Oman boat no. 44 owned by the Ministry of Sports in the Sultanate of Oman and led by the skipper Hameed Bin Salim Bin Humaid crowned as champion of the 23rd Al Maktoum Cup Traditional Rowing Race – 30ft organized by the Dubai International Marine Club under the marine sports season 2019-2020.
We witness the race in the Dubai Water Canal in the area of Al Jaddaf in Dubai Creek which gather around 25 top boats from the two rounds of rowing races held under 2019-2020 season participated by the teams in the UAE and from the neighboring country such as the Kingdom of Bahrain and Sultanate of Oman.
In conjunction with the big race yesterday also held the People of Determination Traditional Rowing Race an initiative race organized by the Dubai Police HQ in coordination with DIMC, which gather around 5 boats to compete on the dedicated track.
The event was attended by Col Saeed Salem Saeed Al Madhani, the acting director of the port police station on behalf of Col Obeid Ibrahim bin Houdeb, Lt. Col. Ali Abdulla Naqbi the Head of Dubai Maritime Rescue Department, Mohammed Harib the CEO of DIMC, Mahra Falaknaz the General Secretary of the UAEMSF.
For the first time the Oman 44 took off the title for the Al Maktoum Cup since its launching year last 1997-1998 wherein we saw their distinct performance since the last season and finally they where able to take home the championship title.
On the second spot is the boat no. 60 Al Tayar owned by Hazz’a Mohammed Muhairi , led by Ebrahim Sultan Marzouki which comes behind the boat no. 44 all throughout the race. Successfully taking off the third spot the boat no. 54 the boat from Bahrain the Al Khalidiya owned by Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and led by the skipper Ahmed Nasser Bin Hassan.
Right after the race is the awarding ceremony for the top 3 winner wherein the oman 44 receive the gold boat trophy and medal , the silver one for Al Tayar 60 and the bronze for the Al Khalidiya 54 led by the presence of Mohammed Hareb DIMC CEO, accompanied by Hezaim Al Gemzi the Director of Sports Department at DIMC and Mohammed Al Shamsi the Director of Admin Corporate Support to provide a club commemorative trophy to Col Saeed Salem Saeed Al Madhani, the acting director of the port police station on behalf of Col Obeid Ibrahim bin Houdeb as a good collaboration and vice versa DIMC received a shield in honor of port police center in recognition of the existing cooperation between the two sides.

Al Tayar (60) one of the prominent name in the world of traditional marine sports that are held in the waters of the UAE (United Arab Emirates) thanks to the support of its owner and sponsor Haza'a Mohammed AlMuhairi wherein recently they achieved a various wins in the different waters sports such as sailing , fishing competition and they won the second place for thw 23rd Al Maktoum Cup Traditional Rowing Race - 30ft.
The boat no. 60 Al Tayar owned by Haza'a Mohammed AlMuhairi and led by the skipper Ebrahim Sultan Al Marzouqi shines in the last two rounds of the rowing race wherein in the overall they took 3 points after finishing second in the first round and first place for the second round.
It is indeed an impressive result for the Al Tayar boat no. 60 after taking the chance to participate in the most expensive race for traditional rowing, the 23rd edition of the Al Maktoum Cup which was held last Friday in the lower part of the Dubai Water Canal in the area of Al Jaddaf in Creek organized by Dubai International Marine Club wherein the team finishes the second place against its rival boat Oman 44
The presence of the Al Tayar (60) in the Traditional Rowing Championship 2019-2020 add a new interest and support for the traditional races in giving value to the cultural heritage thru its patron owner Haza'a Mohammed AlMuhairi. He preserve the legacy of the fathers and grandfathers of his homeland thru his continues support to achieve the vision of leadership andto uphold the values and heritage, which is commanded by the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
He said that his support to all the marine sports heritage will continue to increase the interest of reviving the past; the grandparents and parents and a call to all the companies and national institution to carry out this role for the youth to be particular in the field of the traditional racing in accordance to the environmental standards and principle.
He also praise the organizing committee for successfully organized the series for the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race Championship 2019-2020 wherein the Al Tayar 60 crews particpated well and actively led by the skipper Ebrahim Sultan Al Marzouqi. He also congratulated the champion of the 23rd Al Maktoum Cup , the Oman 44.
In this regard , the captain of the boat no. 60 Al Tayar said his appreciation and thanks to the patron owner Haza'a Mohammed AlMuhairi for his great support and on going follow up that led the team in outstanding position in the competition. He also thanks and encourage the whole team to prepare early for the next season.
