The Dubai Modern Watersports Olympic Festival concluded last Sunday, organized by the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) at Dubai Island over two days. More than 100 male and female participants competing for titles in the Modern Rowing and Modern Sailing Championships.
The third round of the UAE Sailing Championship was held under the supervision of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation (UAESARF), with participation from the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club (ADMSC), Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club (HCSC), Dubai Offshore Sailing Club (DOSC), Abu Dhabi Sailing, and GCC participants from the Oman Sailing Club and Kuwait Watersports Club.
Our world champion, Adil Khaled of Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club, clinched two gold medals in ILCA 7 Master and overall standings. Hamza Al Ali from the Abu Dhabi team secured second place in the overall standings, while the third place was claimed by Manaf Al-Wahaibi from the Kuwaiti Watersports Club. In the ILCA 7 Grand Master category for veterans, sailors from the Abu Dhabi Sailing Club dominated.
In ILCA 6 for girls, Dhuha Albeshr from ADMSC emerged victorious, securing second place overall. Her teammate, Aljazeya Alhammadi, took the second place for girls, and Abdulkareem Alhammadi secured second place for boys and overall. The first place for ILCA 6 boys and overall went to Alexandro Montanari from DOSC.
Four new UAE national talents emerged in the competition. Mohammed Alowais from HCSC secured the gold overall for ILCA 4, with Abdulla Tariq from ADMSC coming in second and William Lambert of DOSC taking third place. Marwa Al Hammadi from ADMSC claimed the first spot in ILCA 4 girls, accompanied by her teammate Camelia Alqubaisi, while the third place was awarded to Eva Hardie from DOSC.
In the Optimist categories, Abdullah Alzabidi from ADMSC clinched first place overall and for boys, while Mediya Al Neyadi secured second place for girls. DOSC sailors dominated the first place in Girls and Girls Junior with Kornelia Pajak.
Following the conclusion of the festival, Mohammed Abdullah Harib, Board Member and CEO at DIMC, along with Mohammed Al Marri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at DIMC, Khalid Al Owais, Technical Committee and Board Member at UAESARF, Thamer Al Shamsi, Race Supervisor and representative from HCSC, and Dr. Sajjad Karimi, Director of Sportify Academy, gathered on stage to award the medals to the top 3 winners of each category.
