Dubai International Marine Club, in cooperation with the UAE Swimming Federation, will host the 2025 UAE Open Water Swimming Championship – Juniors and General on Saturday, February 15, as part of the 2024-2025 marine sports calendar.
This event returns to the club’s calendar and coincides with the announcement of 2025 as the "Year of Community" in the UAE. It aligns with the directives of the Board of Directors of Dubai International Marine Club, headed by Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, to diversify activities, attract various segments of society, and enhance coordination with federations, clubs, and sports institutions. The goal is to provide opportunities for success in all programs and tournaments.
The club's sports administration and competitors' affairs department has taken significant steps to finalize preparations for hosting the competitions, which will take place on Saturday at the open beach near the Bulgari Resort on Jumeirah Bay Island, between Mercato and Al Shorooq beaches. This location recently hosted Dubai Watersports Day 2025, organized by the club, featuring three diverse championships in Olympic rowing, sailing, and kayaking.
The UAE Open Water Swimming Championship for Juniors and General will include three competitive categories:
- Juniors (ages 14-15): 3 km race
- Youth (ages 16-17): 4 km race
- General Championship: Up to 5 km race
Supervised by the UAE Swimming Federation , the competition will bring together over 80 competitors from various sports clubs across the UAE, including:
- Al Wasl Cultural Sports Club
- Abu Dhabi Water Sports Club
- Fujairah Sports Club
- Dibba Al Fujairah Sports and Cultural Club
- Sharjah Sports Club
- Al Hamriya Cultural Sports Club
- Al Dhaid Cultural Sports Club
- Maliha Cultural Sports Club
- Al Bateen Cultural Sports Club
- Dibba Al Hosn Sports and Cultural Club
- Ajman Cultural Sports Club
Notably, Dubai International Marine Club has a long history of organizing open water races at global, regional, and local levels. It hosted the first international marathon in the UAE in 2001, the first round of the World Open Water Swimming Championships, and the Arab Championship in the same year. The club also hosted the fifth Dubai International Water Games Championship (Dubai 2015) and contributed to the success of numerous events, including the Oceanman - Dubai in 2022.
